Cllr Andrew Pond posted 11/19/08 3:03 PM     Click here to send email to Cllr Andrew Pond   Dear ResidentsI have spoken to the Leader of South Norfolk Council, Cllr John Fuller, who informs me there will be a meeting at Central Hall Wymondham, on Wed 26th Nov at 7.30pm until 9.30pm. The purpose of the meeting is to explain the current position in respect to the consultation and the report due before cabinet on 1st Dec. Regards, Andrew Pond.
Mo Pu Lady posted 11/19/08 8:01 PM     Click here to send email to Mo Pu Lady   Thank you Cllr Pond. I have drawn up an information leaflet. South Norfolk should really be informing the residents with a leaflet drop. Only a small proportion of the residents have access to this website and most of us don't get the Mercury delivered (if they have managed to get it in this week's edition), so it is important that we inform as many people as possible about this Public Meeting. If you would like a template of the leaflet, please email me and I will forward it to you.

Mo Pu Lady posted 11/23/08 4:21 PM     Thanks Mandy,We haven't had one for years, so I shall carry on reading it on line. Not fair on the people who can't do that though is it.xx
Karen posted 11/24/08 8:42 PM     The document (next steps) mentioned in the leaflet for discussion at the Public Meeting can be downloaded by going to this web address: http://www.spoonerrow.f2s.com/images/cab2008-12-01ag05.pdf It is 16 pages long and we only have a couple of days to digest it. Good luck!
Exasperated Resident posted 11/25/08 9:50 AM     This Cabinet Report in paragraph 4.13 says that SNC officers "found themselves pilloried or harshly criticised on campaign websites". Is this for real! These officers, well one in particular, regularly SHOUTED and acted in a very forceful manner to several members of the public (both men and women from our community) at the end of the "Drop in Day" evening session. Behaving like this and constantly contradicting himself throughout is not a very professional way to represent SNC!
Mrs Quiet and Unassuming posted 11/26/08 12:24 AM     I totally agree exasperated. In fact there were times when some residents actually felt threatened by one councillor.
Lets hope..... posted 3/15/09 11:32 PM     Lets hope the SNC reps are better behaved at this drop in day compared to the last one!!!!!
Lets hope... posted 3/16/09 5:18 PM     Lets hope we will get some proper answers to our questions and concerns. Last time nothing said was consistent we didn't know where we were. We deserve better. Take pen and paper and write down what they say.
Village Lady posted 3/21/09 0:33 AM     I went to the Drop-in meeting during the day and I thought the reps were quite civil this time. The information they provided was questionable, but nevertheless civil. Then I found out about the 72 year old lady with arthritis banned from collecting names for a petition in the hall. She was made to stand outside all day/evening in the cold. No one should be treated like this. Over the last few months, SNC's treatment of this community involves: 1)making our school children take a gypsy pledge, 2)unacceptable/forceful behaviour by their rep at the last Drop-in meeting and 3)banning a pensioner with a petition from the hall. I think SNC have let themselves down yet again! Do other communities get treated like this by their district council?

Village Lady, I would like to add to your list above:

4. don't forget that SNC tried to put this through without informing us properly (last October), luckily for us the press found out.

5.  two town councillors resigned because they felt that the District Council were forcing these proposals through without proper consultation (and reported it to the Ombudsman)

6. properties belonging to local landowners were put forward as Gypsy sites and entered onto SNC's public website (with grid references) without the owners knowledge or permission.

7.  the last consultation was said to be unsound and withdrawn.  This means SNC have started the process all over again and we now have this new one. All our previous letters and comments are now void.

I think it is very upsetting the way our District Council has treated us over these proposals.  They knew it would be controversial and are still trying to force it through despite all our concerns.  Evidence of this is apparent with their new site selection and scoring systems.

One thing stands out to me as I read the consultation documents Desirable factors have been included solely as  a tool for the council to direct the scoring system in the direction they wished. This alone should be enough for our councillors to refer the whole system to the Ombudsman

Why did they need to score for Desirable factors, when both Wymondham sites scored top marks in all essential factors? We have to somehow get an independent expert to score the sites using the Council's own criteria. Any ideas? If we just say in our questionnaire that we don't agree with the scoring it will just be ignored I am sure.
