I have heard that the level crossing in Spooner Row will be automated in 2012. What a shame that the village will lose this piece of character and, no doubt there will be more redundancies!!
hi there,im not sure where you heard that our barriers here in sp were going automated in 2012 but it is not true,they looked into it only last year but as long as the school is here it will never be automated. so dont worry.x
I'm one of the signalmen up Spooner Signal box. Unfortunately what you hear is true. Around 2012 the whole line is being resignalled using a new system controlled remotely from Colchester. This will see the end of the signal boxes along the line and the gates you all know so well will be converted to full barriers remotely monitored using CCTV.
