posted 3/14/09 11:52 AM Has anyone received communications from SNC regarding the meetings? I personally have had 3 in the last week, two by post (34p per time) and one in the box. I think the council are making sure we cannot complain about being informed this time. I think that is what the site notices are all about too!

posted 3/14/09 7:11 PM The SNDC communication that was sent to me via the post says "Talk to us about Gypsy and Traveller sites". We may very well talk to SNC but will they listen?? 300 letters were sent last time and hardly any of that was taken into consideration. The criteria selected fot the latest consultation is proof of that.

posted 3/16/09 9:54 AM The Spinks Lane site has disappeared from the shortlist table? It was there in Februarys papers.

posted 3/16/09 12:53 AM I observed the notices have been removed from the Chepore Lane site including the one placed there by objectors. I wonder if this is the same for all the notices and if so who removed them and why?

posted 3/16/09 1:33 PM I didn't realise that objectors had put a notice up. What did it say?

posted 3/16/09 3:24 PM Springer, The Lower Spinks Lane listing on March's Shortlist has now been written on a separate page. SNDC have told me that it has been separated from the others on the A11 shortlist because it is not up for consideration due to its low score on the Desirable criteria. Surely, as it made full marks on the Essential criteria the Desirables should not have been considered and that it remains as a viable choice? Also, on its new listing page there is now a misleading and confusing spelling mistake, it says A47 instead of A11. I have informed SNDC about this.

posted 3/16/09 3:50 PM That is correct in any other walks of life desirables are considered only if essentials are equal. In this case Spinks Lane scored perfecr fours in essentials more than the other sites

posted 3/16/09 4:11 PM As Lower Spinks Lane has been separated off (on a separate page) from the others on the A11 shortlist, it will very likely be overlooked by residents. Even more annoying, its address has (in error?) been put under the A47 corridor.

Drop-In-Day Sessions, Wednesday 18th March, Spooner Row Village Hall - Poor treatment
I see that the district council treated an elderly resident with its usual lack of respect by forcing her out of the village hall during the drop in day Below is a link to the newspaper article which says it all:
However, Ronnie Hoare, chairman of the South Norfolk Council gipsy and traveller working group said: "The purpose of these consultations is to consult and discuss possible differences of views. Any individual who interferes with the meeting detracts from this purpose.
"The council has no objection to petitions and in fact has a standing order to review them. But there are better ways to collect signatures for a petition which are in keeping with the spirit of a helpful drop-in session."
Above is a quote from the article in the Mercury. Perhaps we should ask Mr Hoare to share his better ways of collecting signatures that are in keeping with the spirit of a helpful drop-in session. Asking people very politely, as was done on this particular day, is the only way I know of collecting signatures. Perhaps Mr Hoare was thinking of skinning a cat, as I know there is allegedly more than one way of doing that!
I heard on the News today that some councils such as Bedfordshire have gone over to the unitary system. South Norfolk council was also destined to be dissolved and a large unitary council put in its place but they are fighting the Government in the High Court to stop it. I wonder whose money they are using for this? As a council tax payer I think the council should invest their money into training their staff to treat pensioners with a bit of respect instead of wasting resources on fighting the Government.
