I have been receiving concerns about HGV traffic being generated allegedly from two different sites one on Bunwell Road, Besthorpe and the other at a composting site at Carleton Rode.
Whilst retaining industry and jobs remain a high priority it is also important that residentail amenity is protected especially according to any planning conditions laid down by the authorities.
I quote the Minerals & Waste Officer's response to my enquiries re the Carleton Rode site. Minerals and Waste is dealt with by Norfolk County Council:-
"The permission is C/7/2005/7009
1.Waste to which you refer is imported to a composting site off the Old Buckenham Road , Carleton Rode.Operated by a company called TEG. 2.Permanent Planning Permission was given on 1 March 2006, subject to a legal agreement on traffic routeing dated February 2006.This allows access down Fir Covert Road or along Bunwell Road to Spooner Row. 3.The amount of material imported is restrited. 4 Other approvals have been received and progressed relating to additional bio-filter and increased chimney height. 5, The Environmement Agency lead on Environmental Management matters including odour from the site, and I understand Eddie Bell/Darren Butler on 01480 483882 are relevant officers involved. 6The issue of waste on the road, falling off vehicles is a matter of good practice for the Company .There is no direct planning requirement for secure loads, as this is off the planning unit and on a public highway. We will inform the Company at our next visit that we have received a complaint."
Cllr John Turner and I will continue to monitor the situation. Diana Hockaday (Councillor for Cromwells)
thats because no lorries can go through Old Buckenham. Funny how a different council can do this but ours doesnt care about this village.Put speed bumps in, have a mini roundabout at the junction with Station Road, anything to stop mainly cars speeding through as it could be one day fatal.
Does our councillor or Diane Hockaday have any answers to these questions, or as usual do they not care? WE NEED TRAFFIC CALMING IN SPOONER ROW AS THE CURRENT ONES DONT WORK!!!!!
The best thing you can do is to contact both Di Hockaday and John Turner to find out what the situation is (John Turner lives in Spooner Row). If people don't keep their councillors in touch with their concerns then things can just stagnate and get forgotten through lack of interest. My experience of Di Hockaday in the past, is that she has been pretty good at getting involved in trying to sort out problems with a reasonably good success rate.
I have rung Officers at Breckland District Council this morning.
Chris the planning office informed me that the planning application 3PL/20/2010/0252 /F New Industrial Unit Bunwell Rd Besthorpe has not been determined yet because negotiations are continuing regarding linking the new unit to the existing industrial unit.
regardless of the new industrial unit being placed wherever, we get too many vehicles through the village.Yes, lorries and tractors are a pain coming through but what we need is something to slow all the cars so this village is not used as a race track!
