NETWORK RAIL PUBLIC CONSULTATION MEETING SPOONER ROW RESIGNALLING PROJECT
7PM WEDNESDAY 19TH OCTOBER
SPOONER ROW VILLAGE HALL
Works to upgrade and renew the signalling equipment between Ely and Norwich are currently being undertaken. As part of this project significant changes to Spooner Row level crossing are planned.
The proposed work will result in the existing gated crossing being converted to a fully barriered crossing using new technology radar to ensure that the crossing is clear of pedestrians and vehicles prior to the lowering of the barriers and the passage of trains.
The proposed works are due to commence in January 2012 and the new crossing system will come into operation in June 2012. During the works disruption will be minimal, as the crossing will work normally until the changeover to the new type of crossing.
Road users and pedestrians will be able to use the crossing in the normal way whilst the works are taking place.
