error ... confirmed by Fiona at NCC the press release should read ...."works to convert manually operated gates at the railway crossing to automatically operated ones."..
If I remember correctly the last time we had notice of these road closures no warning signs were posted on the roads.
Please pass this message on to people who are not on line. I will be delivering by hand messages to two residents who do not have computers but this could become an expensive business for me and we do not receive expenses as Town Councillors.
Would be nice if the signal box could be moved and kept somewhere in the village but I had heard that someone within the rail network had already earmarked it for his garden! Typical!
Don't spin any nonsense about any benefits here...Nobody wins from this.
Jobs lost
Claxon noise and flashing lights all day for houses near.
Village loses another bit of what made it characterful and attractive to live in
Trains don't get faster
No more trains stop
Barriers get less safe for young children animals etc. Manned barriers are way way safer than unmanned automatic. astonishing to say otherwise.
It all about Profits for rail companies and a signal box earmarked for somebody 'in the know'. Tell it how it is. Do't insult us with lies about rail safety etc. History will show us what we have lost.
