They say that ‘Bad news travels fast’ so many Spooner Row people may already know this.
Diana suffered a stroke last week and is now recovering in the N&N hospital. Her sons have asked me to tell people on ‘a need to know basis’. They probably didn't realise that, given Diana's local commitments and community involvement, that is quite a lot of people in Wymondham and surrounding area. Obviously her WTC diary is closed (for the time being at least).
Joan and I hope to visit her on Thursday; certainly we will pass on everyone's good wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Diana is now being cared for in the Oakwood Nursing Home in Colney (near the BUPA Spire hospital). She continues to recover, slowly.
As can only reasonably be expected under the circumstances, Diana has resigned from Wymondham Town Council. The politics (both little-p and big-P) can get very stressful and she must rest for the sake of her health. I'm sure we all in the Spooner Row/Suton end of Cromwells ward will, as much as her geographically closer neighbours in Silfield, feel great gratitude for all the hard work she has put in for many years.
