Subject: South Norfolk Clean Sweep 2014 Date: Fri, 4 Apr 2014

From: Joseph Webb <JWebb@S-NORFOLK.GOV.UK

To: Parish Clerks <ParishClerks@s-norfolk.gov.uk

Dear Sir/Madam,

Clean and tidy streets within South Norfolk are a key priority which is repeatedly raised by Members, parish clerks and residents.

We have listened to this feedback resulting in the continuation of our successful 'Clean Sweep' initiative, utilising local knowledge to further improve the appearance of the District.

I am contacting you to make you aware that we will shortly be launching our 'South Norfolk Clean Sweep 2014' initiative. This initiative is a response to comments from Councillors and members of the public about the litter and other material that accumulates on verges and kerb edges, particularly over the winter. It is proposed to provide an intensive and systematic mechanical road and pavement sweep within each parish in South Norfolk.

The cleaning will be completed by three mechanical road sweepers and three compact pavement sweepers which will sweep key roads and footways in each area, removing litter and dirt. Each neighbourhood area will be visited and cleansed within a two week period. Within this period each parish will be visited.

The cleansing order and dates will be as follows:

1. Tiffey Valley - 5th May to 16th May inclusive

2. Northern River Valleys – 19th May to 30th May inclusive

3. Tas Valley – 2nd June to 13th June inclusive 4. Waveney Valley – 16th June to 27th June inclusive 5. Eastern River Valleys – 30th June to 11th July inclusive A list of routes has been compiled for each parish and sets out a schedule of cleansing work.

It is important that we also use local knowledge from Members, parish clerks and the local community to feed into the schedule so please let me know of any key cleansing routes within your local area.

Please let me know if you have any key cleansing routes in your local area or have any other questions.

Kind regards, Joseph Joseph Webb Waste and Environmental Management Officer
