When the Village hall was repainted some years ago now The notice board was removed as it was in poor state of repair The notice board was not replaced, as we (Village Hall committee) had requested a replacement from council funds. A request was accepted  We also requested to pay planning permission to site it on or own wall. But investigations by Di Hockaday found that this was not the case due to a little used council regulation.

When it arrive it was not the size we we told it would be. The size was only big enough for 4 A4 sheets of paper

. The notice board was locked so no one could access it. The key was held by the town clerk and if access was required then you had to request that the town clerk let you have the key. The councill had placed in the notice board council information and when a request was made to place a event poster in the notice board we were told that the notice board was for council information only.

I went to the town clerk to enquire why we were not permitted to place a notice on the notice board I was told we already had a notice board for such things and it was for council use only.  I did agree that there was a notice board for events posters  but that was already being used for another event. I also pointed that the notice board was intended for people of the village to use but was told that was not the case as the town clerk understood it.  So in my capacity of chairman of the village hall I requested that the town clerk remove the notice board from the village hall wall as it was not as we had requested.

This was done and short time later a notice board was constructed by a committee member Mark Newman and stands in place still today being used by members of the village.

That was a bit mean to have been provided with a replacement community notice board and then told that it was not for anyones use but the council. I am glad there is a much used general community notice board on the village hall wall now.

Currently, we really do need to have a parish notice board in the village as it looks as though there will be some significant planning designs for this part of the parish and local people need to be aware of what is going on.  As a suggestion, a good place for a parish notice board would be at one of the entrances to the recreation ground or car park entrance. This could come under the Town Clerk's general management of the recreation ground and would help all residents to be kept informed as to what is going on.
