The Town Council has yet to set a date for this application to be heard

Anyone who wishes to make a representation is encouraged to attend and I will let you know as soon as I do when this will be.

Unfortunately the planning notice attached to the property in a public place has mysteriously disappeared

If you ring South Norfolk Council, they should re-instate the Planning Application outside the property.    Although it is an offence to remove it, it does happen, and happened recently outside a property in East Tuddenham.

Just one thing do the people who now own 2 cantley also own 1 cantley as the hedge at the back belonged too the watts and not to next door and this has now been removed.

Number one is still owned by the Watts family and know about the fence/boundary being taken down,it is in the hands off their family solicitor and he at number 2  has been told to put the boundary back in place and clear rubbish

Planning Permission has been granted

This is very disappointing to say the least and makes a grand total of 40 new houses approved when we are only supposed to have had 10-20.

The site layout has been amended but this change was not re referred to Wymondham Town and I am trying to establish whether this was a delegated  decision or one made in full committee. District Councillors, if they are around can force full committee consideration if they feel that the matter was contentious. If I had had the power to do this I would have done and I feel that this whole process has been badly handled.

It is a sad indictment with our current Planning system that comes under the 'Growth and Localism' section of SNDC that Growth is key and localism is almost dead. Officers come  under tremendous Political pressure to approve applications for a whole host of reasons, some better and more justified than others. This is wrong.

The manner in which this application was finally approved is very odd to say the least as it was done under delegated powers.

The final site plan was submitted on the 7th and by the 10th April , some 3 days later  it was approved without any reference to the full Planning committee.

Delegated powers are only  supposed to be used where the application was deemed as non contentious and by no stretch of the imagination was this application thus described. See above

Bearing in mind we currently have a Conservative dominated administration , until May the 7th at least, is it a happy coincidence that a very large Conservative election poster appears like magic in the front garden of the applicant's house, once the application has been approved or is this an indication of some form of political influence in the Planning process

You decide

Well well, what a convenient coincidence! Clearly the procedure taken for approving this planning application was not correct in that it should not have been delegated - who exactly was it delegated to?

It saddens me to think that political standpoints determine planning applications when it should be done on careful considered suitability.  I hope the local elections bring about an improvement to the system and we get a fairer deal in the future.

I thought it strange, and worrying, that the applicant proceeded to clear the site whilst at that time he was awaiting planning permission to be given.

The application was delegated to the Planning officer handling the application, sadly as is the norm. It is signed off by a senior Planner as well.  I genuinely cannot comment as to how rigourous this process is , one way or the other

I was pleased to note that the Conservative candidate for District in his leaflet says he wants to keep Housing numbers in Spooner row down to a minimum. Unfortunately and no doubt another happy coincidence , the two houses showing Conservative boards at that end of the village were both granted planning permission to build houses and both recently .

I might be a bit dim but how exactly does the promise in the leaflet make any sense given these facts. The message seems to be - Vote for me and you will get your Planning permission.

I have made a formal complaint to South Norfolk about this matter but sadly nothing will change as it is all too late. The decision has been made !

That's interesting. What exactly does he mean by saying that he wants to keep housing numbers in Spooner Row down to a "minimum". A minimum can mean anything. Perhaps he means a minimum of a 1000 new houses or even 2,000.  It does appear to be cosy that two planning permissions now display Conservative candidate election posters at their entrances.

individual candidates for any party cannot make decisions on their own,it shows how some people are upset because their own banner is not in the gardens mentioned. This is not a political forum it is about residents who have a vested interest in the village.

Roll on 8th May

So why do he say he supports keeping numbers 'down ' if he can't promise it happening then

Surely all residents are entitled to have a vested interest in the village as that is where they live! No one else gives a damn

I completely agree all the residents are! And I would like to point out that one of the candidates who wishes to be elected to represent our views does not even live in Cromwells Ward  let alone Spooner row

that does annoy me. How can someone represent and support local issues and local people if they don't even live in the vicinity? That's the thing about Cromwells Ward including Spooner Row, it has a reputation of being overlooked and ignored except when they want to dump lots of unwanted developments.

This is worrying as the only person who can appeal a granted planning permision is the applicant on the grounds the PP is too draconian and they want it changed.

I suppose we must wait and see what happens next.
