SNC are consulting about changes again.  Here's a link to [a copy of] a letter they sent me.

If you follow the link in the letter to the SNC site, dig around a bit, you'll find that a rather critical word has changed: from “At most 1200 houses…” has become “At least 1200 houses…”.

See also conversation on Facebook/Wymondham matters.

Just to let any readers know, I have asked my current fellow councillors for their support to ask the Clerk to write to South Norfolk to ask  for an extension of the consultation time on this for the town Council, in whatever future guise it assumes, given current elections as this is too important to rush.

I have also noted that the Planning portal at South Norfolk has crashed today which makes comments rather difficult in a private capacity

The Wymondham Area Action Plan isn't relevant to Spooner Row, it's not part of it. The district council decided that for us, so much for Localism and community.  Why didn't the parish council support Spooner Row rather than just go along with this segregation? To say that not being part of the WAAP was to reduce Spooner Row's new housing, is a joke.

The WAAP and the section of the new plan which is already hopelessly out of date, which relates to Spooner row and Suton  as a Service village,  will be discussed at the Planning meeting at the Town Council Tuesday night 26th at 1800 . This is a public meeting where all can speak.

I am very unhappy with the way South Norfolk have dealt with this but have a limited remit to comment. I am pleased to say I have been relected to the Planning Sub committee and as far as I can will be giving South Norfolk and speculative developers rigid scrutiny going forward.

It's a little 'late in the day' for the parish council to now speak on behalf and support Spooner Row (and Suton), now that all the proposals and decisions have been made at' District Council level' regarding the Local Plan's Site Specific Allocations etc. It's been a perfect example of just how democracy does not work well around here. Spooner Row people have not been represented properly, nor in my opinion, have they been informed properly in recent years on important decisions within the Local Plan - decisions which are affecting us now.

The latest revised consultation map of Spooner Row isn't even correct - what can I say?!

Will this latest version be going back to the Independent Government Inspector?

I could not agree more Karen although I would like to think that some aspects of democracy work better than the Planners do.

Having recently found the sheme of delegation as laid down in the South Norfolk recently revised constitution it is very clear that where the recommendation to the Council ( from the Planners ) disagrees with the parish Council comments , the application should be referred to the full Planning committee.

This did NOT happen at 2 Cantley Villas as Wymondham had rejected it and was duly delegated.

I am still in discussion with the Head of development as to why this was the case. Her first response was that  it was properly delegated !!!

Of course now that the decision has been made we cannot do anything to reverse this which is an absolute disgrace.

I know a referral to the full Planning committee is no guarantee of a different outcome but where an Officer who has been in SINGLE contact with an Agent makes this decision despite Parish objection , ANY Parish objection, this has be wrong. The scrutiny on this decision has simply disappeared.

Julian, this scheme of planning delegation does sound a bit iffy, but ultimately, it is the district councillors who are responsible - they employ the planners to make decisions on their behalf.

What I am actually talking about and have concerns about, is the processes involved in the Local Plan which is policy driven. It should fully involve everyone who has an interest which includes Spooner Row. There are anomalies with Spooner Row which have not been properly, nor accurately addressed.

Spooner Row is not on the Agenda for this meeting, which means that the public cannot speak on this subject.  The Agenda only covers WAAP Amendments and Spooner Row is not part of the WAAP.  It appears that it is a case of yet again, Spooner Row gets ignored on important planning policy issues!!!!

As a member of the public, I notice that SNC's response to my latest comments for the Inspector, have been misrepresented again! According to them on their formal website, I apparently don't understand about Flood Zone 1 risks. It would be better if SNC focused on what I actually said, rather than condescendingly concern itself with what it assumes I do or don't know about this subject.

What is happening with the site in School Lane?  I am concerned over all the road safety issues that affect the primary school children and pedestrians that use this narrow road.

The council is still wanting to put 5 properties on a 'piece' of that field in School Lane, but no one is expecting it to end there. This site is the same as planning application 2015/0644 for 16 dwellings, which had to be withdrawn because it was up for refusal. Is this a case of building at any cost with little regard to safety and other important issues? Considering the size of Spooner Row, the village has already far exceeded its fair share of housing allocation.
