Is anything going to be done about the brambles spreading across Station Road footpath from the adjacent field? Who owns or manages that field? The longer brambles reach over half way across the path and would easily scratch a childs face or eye.
Trust me, if I had a petrol or battery hedge trimmer I would have already been round there to deal with it. I am fed up with all the perpetual whingers in this village who expect everything to be done for them by someone else.
How about everyone who takes a walk up Station Road taking a pair of secateurs and their gardening gloves and trimming one or two overhanging bramble stems?
Or alternatively do nothing, waiting for NCC to turn up sometime, so that you can cry in righteous indignation when your child, dog, leg or whatever gets snagged by a thorn.
You can hire a hedge trimmer from Toucan Hire Services down the road, so please go round and deal with it as you recommend others to do. Alternatively the landowner who is causing the problem should have a hedge trimmer or tractor for the job rather than expect passers by to take a pair of secateurs with them everytime they go out (what a cheek expecting the public to do the job). Anyway its more than just one or two brambles stems. If it was maintained properly then no one would be whinging about this as you put it. I hope the council are going to send the landowner the bill. Its the landowners responsibility and not the responsibility of passers by or taxpayers.
The council should know who owns the land. It is getting worse and in one area if the brambles spread any further across the path then it is a walk in the road with the HGVs. It defeats the point of having a path.
