Does anyone have an opinion on this?

To me it just seems that the power crazed bureaucrats at NCC/SCC are just looking to further their careers by generating yet more paperwork at the expense of local taxpayers.

Devolve = More power to ineffective politicians who aren't actually good enough to be a real MP ( which in itself is shockingly poor, especially when you look at the mob we have in charge). More career politicians who wouldn't know the real world if it punched them in the face and the associated pen pushers will have meetings about meetings and spend more and more time deciding nothing but all the time consuming resources like the oxygen thieves they truly are.....

I am of course happy to be proved wrong, and that I am totally out of order, but that is just how it looks from my side of the fence...

Thoughts?

I totally agree with this and I couldn't have put it better myself. It is just another level of time-wasting expensive bureaucracy.  I will be doing this survey and making my points quite clear.

We need fewer paid councillors and MP's, what happened to the pledge to reduce their numbers?

Putting out a consultation in the summer holidays in my view is idiotic and just for interest I have already made a comment on Boundary review consultation which is happening at the same time, which basically says there is another 3000 persons going into cromwells ward so a boundary change is needed. I also pointed out that Cromwells is a very large sub parish when compared with the rest of Wymondham and has a significant area which is rural in character unlike the rest of the Town

One of declared aims is co terminosity, which is a posh word for matching boundaries, I pointed that the Ward is in west Norfolk for MP, South Norfolk for District, is allegedly part of Wymondham Town and is seperate again for county being in Forehoe division. What a bl**dy shambles.

The point made by anon about reducing MP numbers is well made but of course those new MP's , after the last re org are blocking it, as there was proposal to reduce by 50 our current wonderful 650 elected MP's.

Incidentally Parish and Town councillors get zilch

Devolution is in my view just another level of unecessary Government and is in fact an excuse for more cuts. It will just confuse the situation even more than it is already. The original idea was to have a region so we could tap into Euro regional funds as Scotland has done but post Brexit you can bin that idea, which along with other grants for farming and road projects etc which are all now in the toilet even though article 50 has yet to be activated .

When you put it like that, it does look very much like a shambles.  It's like Spooner Row is just a tag-on here, a tag-on there, without giving the village any real significance and not considered important enough to have consistent boundaries.  Maybe it's time to start thinking about Spooner Row becoming its own parish and that way we should get proper representation for a change.  Who is our Forehoe division representative? What is it a part of? Are we really part of Wymondham parish? - it doesn't feel like it. Other than Julian Halls, who are Spooner Row's other ward councillors?

Lots of questions here and I will do my best to cover them

We are in Cromwells ward which is basically DU1 and DT1.  DU1 is Silfield and DT1 is Spooner row Wattlefield and Suton

Cromwells ward is represented at Town Council by Adam Osbourne, Jack Hornby and myself

Cromwells ward at District Council South Norfolk  is represented by Jack Hornby as a single District Councillor . South Norfolk MP is Richard Bacon  BUT we are in south west Norfolk and our MP is George Freeman.

Wymondham division of County has all  4 wards of Wymondham BUT NOT  Cromwells which falls into Forehoe division  and our County councillor is Colin Foulger. Wymondham Town division ( THE OTHER 4 WARDS)  is Joe Mooney

This review is very unlikely to split away DT1 to become it own parish but it might be triggered by a Boundary review if we force it, but we have to get 50% of the voting population to support it , ( makes a mockery of General election % mandates )   and then if proven,  that triggers a governance review from District who have already made it clear that they do not want this so they can add any words they like to the review documentation BUT this will not necessarily change who our rep could be. In other words we could still have ONE Cromwells ward rep , our current District Councillor and the only difference would be a Parish Council of our own and the fact that we could set our own precept. I think having our own District Councillor should we succeed in setting a Parish is extremely unlikely as the drive is for less councillors not more

I hope this is clear and is it any wonder people get fed up with Politics and confused as to who to complain to and about what.

Looks like the Devolution was a flop last night as everyone voted against it except S Norfolk and Broadland District Councils.

It would be just another layer of bureaucracy and no one cared for the idea of a regional mayor.

not at all sure no one cared. Looks like Tories were all told to vote for this at South Nofolk and Braodalnd and John Fuller who was on the telly promoting himself as the new Mayor must be quiet upset .

Such a pity it has all gone t*** up

What a shame.

Today on the Sunday Politics, local TV programme, they had a discussion with a Norfolk MP and several council leaders about Devolution.  I thought of sharing some of the things they said:

Richard Bacon MP said, ....There are far too many councillors and that needs streamlining. Tax-payers have the right to expect a local government that is fit for purpose...

S. Norfolk Council Leader, John Fuller said, .....Different areas with different aspirations need to be accommodated.....

I hope John Fuller starts to listen to the aspirations of people living in Spooner Row in order to accommodate them.  It would have been nice if John Fuller had made more of an effort with his appearance and worn a suit and tie like the others.
