On the new footpath that is being constructed on Bunwell road for the new housing estate, I have noticed a lack of dropped kerbs for pushchairs, wheelchairs etc. Does anyone know if they have been forgotten or will they be put in place at a later date?

The problem of available access is becoming more common, surely it can't be that there will be NO dropped kerbs, not in these enlightened times where the access group in Wymondham is trying it's best to educate authorities about these problems.

I expect it will be the cheapest option for the developer

Well spotted and a I wholly agree with you, a dropped kerb for pushchairs and wheelchairs would have been a good idea on this new stretch of pavement.

The Highways Agency DDA Compliance Programme Design Compliance Assessment Guide, whilst not matching our exact situation, does seem to suggest that a dropped kerb should have been considered (3.2.8.2)

Can I suggest that you give Adrian Jacklin (our local Highways Engineer) a call on 01508 533929 and ask him why it was not recommended to the developer.
