Due to the terrible wifi speeds, we are thinking about getting an unlimited data sim with the company three, and using a phone as a hotspot for all the other devices. Is anyone here with them, and if so do you get 3g or 4g coverage and what kind of speeds would we be looking at?
We have been looking into this and the sticking point is that unlimited sims are not quite what they seem. Yes they are unlimited for phone data, but they seem to have a 30GB limit for 'Personal Hotspots'. I don't know how the network knows the difference, perhaps someone more tecy can explain? With gamers in the house we get through a good 250GB a month.
There is an app that seems to get round this called PdaNet but I cannot vouch for whether it's against the carriers T&C's. Again perhaps someone more in the know can help here?
