It would be nice if the new residents could follow the rules of the road within the village.

Today I had to sharply break for a black Mercedes for a new resident on the Bunwell estate.q

'Really'.      what a rude response!

The point of the post is what it says. It is asking road users, including those new to the Bunwell Road estate to drive courteously through the village, to follow rules of the road and not to force other road users to sharply break. What is so wrong about this? Nothing. There needs to be more courtesy on the village HGV route, from both lorry and car drivers.

Is there ever a village meeting, where everyone gets notification and can air their thoughts ? Surely as a group we can achieve more, plus with all these anon postings, you don’t actually know how many people in the village either care or contribute.

Just a typical response of rude arrogant villagers!

I would have thought the point, like many other posts, is around common sense and road safety within the village... like posts on cars on footpaths near the pub, cars parked at station road on a junction.. & dangerous lorries!

If people drive dangerously who live in the village through the village than how can we as a village moan at other people...

Perhaps you should have been looking where you were going instead of jelously admiring their car/house

I doubt they would be admiring the over priced house next to the road! Or the car!

How ridiculous. Not that they could be driving incorrectly!

Who would be jealous of anyone living in one of the new lego-land houses on Bunwell Road with hardly any garden? As for the make of car, who cares about that either! Are we supposed to be in awe?

Regarding 'Courtesy'.  Now that ENS has mostly pulled out of the new estate, I wonder if they are concerned about re.instating the grassy triangle at the junction of Hill road that their vehicles have churned up; also replacing the sign for Hill road that has been mangled.

This would be both courteous and 'Village Friendly', we have had an awful lot to tolerate in the past few months, a bit of a goodwill gesture would be appreciated.

if you crash into someone it is your fault, therefore it is you driving incorrectly not the Mercedes owner.

Not necessarily, it would depend on the circumstances and probably be dealt with as a "knock for knock". The Mercedes owner could also have braked and not relied on the oncoming vehicle to do so. It is not only lacking in courtesy but to drive down the road expecting others to brake for you is very arrogant, not to mention the danger of causing a potential accident.

Goodness, this comment is typical  of many comments  made today on social media :   quite missing the point.    The point being made here is that the Mercedes driver was causing another driver to brake hard.  How often do we see that the victim in an argument is summarily hauled over the coals not the perpetrator ?

I think the point here is we should be welcoming a new neighbour to our village. I am sure neither party set out to nearly cause an accident.

No one is unwelcoming to new neighbours in the village, this is quite unfair.  This instead looks more like a highways issue. Think about it, a high-density estate has just been built, generating an increase in traffic movement on an already busy country lane that has been allocated as an HGV route.  It stands to reason, extra vehicles, equals more congestion and more people feeling like other road users have acted discourteously. This little village hasn't got the road/highway infrastructure to cope.

The residents living on that part of Bunwell Road have been through a lot of inconveniences, noise, regular loss of electricity and water, and other problems during the building of the new estate.  They are probably still feeling pretty fed-up by it all.

I just thought that the tone of the previous messages was very negative and the underlying issue / discontent is the new development and planning.  As a community we should be more positive about people choosing to live as our neighbours, not use them as a conduit to vent our frustrations.

It's strange how different people read things differently. I thought the request was about having courtesy when driving through the village after having to brake sharply.

I would like to welcome the new people to the village.
