Anyone else fed up with having to dodge pot holes ,I know it’s the sheer volume and weight of traffic passing through. But when I buckled my wheel last year because of a pot hole in spooner row.I was informed by the council they will not pay out.Even though I showed evidence. Then the pot hole got filled in!
beware there is a pot hole at junction of the boars and various others on chicane, they do , do damage and you will have to pay!
I thought that if a certain pothole was reported and the council was aware and did nothing, then you may have a claim. If it damages your car take the measurements and depth, plus a photo. Once a pothole is reported the council has an obligation to repair it. Look online as there is plenty of information on how to be compensated. Don't see why motorists should be out of pocket when the road maintenance has been paid for by the council tax.
I hit one a few weeks ago, as it was full of water I didn't realise it was there until I hit it. I had to have a new tyre, over £100. I took photos of the pot hole- provided a receipt and sent to the council. I received a letter basically saying that they didn't know about the pot hole, had it have been reported & they were aware then I would have received compensation but because they didn't know they weren't liable. They did come out and fill soon after I made contact.
Makes you laugh really, HGVs passing through the village from sites that don’t have permission to be there, damaging roads that then cost the same councils money to correct. This then compounded by driver claims which cost the members of public more costs caused by the very vehicles of sites they most probably reported in the first instance.
Long story short, business makes money at everyone else’s expense.

Actually, while that is what they tell you it is not strictly true. There is a lot of encouragement not to make a claim
I hit a Pothole over near Lenwade just before Christmas. Buckled the wheel and wrecked the tyre. It was dark, so I didn't know exactly where it was ( apart from the road number and it was near some trees ). I had no photos, no measurements, and I have no idea if the hole i hit had been reported because i have no idea where it was along that 5 or 6 mile road. I did go and look for it a few days later but I couldn't find it. As to pictures/measurements my argument is I am not going to stand in the middle of a main road measuring stuff and taking photos etc., could you imagine demanding measurements for a hole on the A11??.
You can check on the highways website to see if a pothole has been registered. They ask for things like service history and mileage of the car ( how that is relevant to the damage from a hole I don't know, so I didn't give them that, but my car is quite new so that could be considered by them to be irrelevant), MOT, Insurance cert and proof of ownership, all of which is relatively easy to supply. Give them what they ask for, answer honestly and it is actually a relatively painless process. I filled in the forms, sent them by e-mail and they settled up a couple of weeks later, they even paid the repair centre directly for the work ( I asked them to do that to partly prove I wasn't fiddling the system). The claim is all handled by Norfolk CC, not SNDC
They paid for a new wheel, tyre, for the tracking to be checked and all labour (I wont say how much, but it was a lot).
There are lots of potholes on the A11 - on the stretch of highway from the Spooner Row slip road, in the direction of Norwich. These need some serious attention as they are getting worse.
A11 northbound from Spooner Row to past the Waitrose/PoliceHQ junction is lethal. Only the outside lane is safe. Just passed two Police vehicles blocking off a section of the inside lane.
And there is a huge crater just before the automated crossing on the back road to Wymondham. You come on it really quickly on the slight bend before the crossing, can be avoided so long as there is nothing coming towards you.
Although it takes a few extra minutes I think the B1172 is the only safe option at the moment.
It was shocking this morning just past the slip road on the A11 heading to Norwich. You haven't got the speed to pull out in the fast lane so are forced to dodge or go over the pot holes. I hear there was funding for a decent road surface when this section of the A11 was built but this isn't a decent road surface that we got! Wonder where that money went to? Get the relevant staff out of their offices and prioritise what we need like fixing the roads.
Please do not just drive around them. Report them to county using interactive map and then if you forget the day after and break your wheel or Tyre you can point out when you did this and it makes the claim so much easier AND helps others who may do the same damage.
Thanks. I went to the NCC website to report a pothole and they said Highways England is responsible for the A11. Went to Highways England site and could find nowhere to report potholes. Typical. Nice websites of no f******* use. Do you have a link to the map you mention to report these?
Don't worry. I rang Customer Services at Highways England and reported the potholes on the A11 immediately after the slip road to Norwich and they reckon somebody will get it sorted. Let's see! If you need to make a claim for any damage, you would need to call them so they can investigate.
I have already reported the pothole near the crossing
You need to register and log in with password BUT I do not get loads of crap as a result so worth doing I just googled highways Norfolk report a pot hole. Logged in and then click on report pot hole and up comes the map which you drill down on and then it asks a few words , about how deep and any other comments and job done.
Highways England in charge of all Trunk roads including the A11 are a completely different obstructive set of individuals who arrogance knows no bounds in my experience and of course being rural Norfolk we all wear soft floppy hats and suck straw don't we ?
EDP news report says that potholes will be stamped out throughout Norfolk: http://www.wymondhamandattleboroughmercury.co.uk/news/10-4m-project-to-stamp-out-norfolk-s-potholes-is-launched-1-5473782?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=dlvr.it
It looks like some patchy tarmac has been placed in some of the potholes by the Spooner Row A11 sliproad (northbound) but a little further up the A11 they haven 't been touched and are as bad as ever. There are some potholes on the B1172 (Wymondham bound) as well, before you get to the traffic lights.
