Spooner Row Primary school is a thriving school at the heart of the community of Spooner Row, serving local children aged 4 to 11. We are part of the ie Multi Academy Trust. Governance of the school is served by seven governors as part of a Local Governing Body (LGB).
We currently have a vacancy for a community governor and would like to fill this vacancy from within the parish of Spooner Row, Suton and Wattlefield.
We are looking for someone who can:
·Use their own experience of education and life beyond school to inform conversations.
·Develop and utilise their skills to enhance the LGB. Bring their unique experiences, perspective and insights into decision making for the good of the school and the local community
·Make a valuable contribution to the children’s education and their community.
·Support and challenge the school so that it improves for pupils and staff.
·Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils.
·Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
·Engage with pupils, staff, parents and the school community
·Address a range of education issues within the school including disadvantaged pupils, pupils with special needs, staff workload and teacher recruitment.
·Appoint and review the head teacher and senior leaders, and make decisions about pay
·Look at data and evidence to ask questions and have challenging conversations about the school
·Be enthusiastic about the school and its place in the community.
Training is provided on a range of subjects including topics such as safeguarding and safer recruiting.
