Given that Mr Alston is currently arguing with South Norfolk Council that he will not make enough money on the Bunwell Road/Chapel Road development and as such, he should not be forced to comply with his planning consent to build 13 low cost homes on Chapel Road (instead the number should be only 5) it is a bit rich for his planning agent to claim here that "a large number of houses" still need to be provided under the Local Plan and then cite Spooner Row in the next breath.
The comment from David Harvey, the planning agent should be noted "This site we feel has merits as it is in a sustainable location close to the A11, on the Cambridge to Norwich corridor and also in good proximity to Spooner Row and Wymondham train stations.”
If this goes ahead the community of Silfield is likely to disappear as it becomes a suburb of Wymondham, with Spooner Row and Suton next.
This kind of thing is exactly what I am firmly opposed to without MASSIVE improvements to infrastructure and if you remember our district councillor promised in his leaflet and I quote 'he supports the councils Policy to keep housing numbers in Spooner row down to a minimum'
Errr seen lots of evidence of that haven't we ???? and the missing apostrophe is like the promise completely missing
Sorry to get so political so early but this cosy relationship between developers Land owners and the Tory run Council is bad for us all and we will all suffer if it is not challenged and if at all possible broken down.
Thanks for that article link. How can a dense housing sprawl on attractive open countryside be called a "garden village"? A total misnomer if ever there was one.
The promotion of the A11 corridor in this article is very dubious in the present and future climate. It will increase the reliance on cars as there is insufficient scope for future public transport infrastructure in this area. This is contrary to the requirements held within the council's Local Plan and the NPPF's (National Planning Policy Framework) requirement to provide a viable and sustainable transport system. (Incidentally, the NPPF's 5-year-housing-land-supply is the reason why the district council approves so many planning applications, many of them unsuitable. The council follows this rule because it overrides its own Local Plan's sustainable housing numbers - not a good outcome for many local communities).
I have no confidence that local needs will be met.
10 new houses in Station road !? The Planning consultant said not part of the A11 corridor so no issues in that regard , yet this Planning consultant says part of the A11 corridor even though you have to drive six - ten times further , via Browick road via a totally unsuitable route or railway bridge, to get to the A11, than you do to get to it from Station road.
I think this illustrates perfectly the validity we can place on planning applications and agents comments, which are there simply to justify their fee and are completely meaningless.
As a resident of Spooner Row and what seems to be a limitless number of unsustainable planning applications constantly being given approval by South Norfolk Council, it is making me feel that I am being repeatedly harassed in my own home and in the close vicinity. It is never-ending. Those given power should use it wisely and not treat people in this way.
It would seem that the people of Yaxham are challenging Breckland Council over their link to Capita (a private planning body 450 miles away) who advise them on planning applications. Just recently, there have been some fairly 'spurious' approvals. These are people who have no idea of the area concerned.
