*BE AWARE* we have just had a suspicious cold caller visit us on Queen's Street (around 1.15 Tues 20th November).
Tall, dark, balding, skinny chap in his late 40s dressed in jeans and a blue fleece top.
He hovered around at the top of our drive for ages smoking a cigarette having a good look at our property, then eventually ventured up the drive and was peering in through our living room window when my husband challenged him and asked what he was up to. He then asked if we were thinking of having our windows replaced but had no brochures or cards on him and wouldn't confirm the name of the company he worked for, he just had a bit of paper in his pocket with pictures of windows on it with the logo "PP" on the top. He claimed to be from Barnham Broom and to have done other work locally but I cannot find any window installation companies in Barnham Broom. My husband was of the opinion that he just wanted to get inside the house and his whole demeanour was not that of a salesperson - the whole window thing feeling like a cover story.
No sign of any vehicle with a registration number to ID - he may have been on a bike.
I have reported this to Norfolk Constabulary who are going to keep any eye out but please be aware of this and don't let anyone in without appropriate ID.
Bit more information, having seen said gentleman disappear along Queen's Street towards Top Common, after a few minutes he came back past our property and I followed him as far as the pub to see what he did. He ONLY appeared to be interested in bungalows, didn't knock on any house doors or leave any cards through letterboxes and then turned right onto Bunwell Road where he again walked past all the houses and disappeared just before the new builds.
The police have just been round to see us and are out looking for him. Please pass this on to any of your neighbours who might not have access to the message board.
Further developments are that the police have been to see us and have toured the village trying to find this gentleman (I don't know yet whether they have been successful). After leaving our property and heading down Queen's Street towards Top Common he then came back past again and I followed him for a little way. He only tried to call at bungalows, if no-one was in made no attempt to leave a card and walked straight past the houses. Looking for elderly residents perhaps? He then turned right into Bunwell Road and walked past all the houses until I lost sight of him near the new builds.
Please make sure you lock everything up securely and share this information with any elderly neighbours who may not have access to this message board. Anyone genuine will be happy to show ID and for you to check it if you need to.
This sounds like the man that paid us a visit on Chapel Road today and I caught him looking through our front window after I had closed the front door. He straight away made me think he was not drumming up business for windows because of the way he was and his dress code.
He is a person employed by DP Home improvements based at Lenwade

Just after getting you to have a quote for fascias etc BUT this involves a home interview and when I said I just wanted a quote without an 'interview' he ignored that bit and insisted on a quotation interview.... I suspect a hard sell pitch
I will be contacting the company to advise them that I do not want such an interview and will in consequence cancel but it was easier to let him think he had won so he could then disappear
