A couple of the wooden bollards at the junction of station road and school lane appear to have taken a battering . Do we need to inform anyone? They new one ( installed last summer) that has been hit on looks like it will completely come apart if too much pressure is applied. Are they supposed to provide safety to pedestrians from traffic? They appear to have been hit quite hard.
The damage to the new post has been reported to NCC Highways, as has the earlier damage to the other posts.
The village is due to receive a visit from the NCC Highway Rangers but we could be waiting a long time. The list of works to be conducted in South Norfolk is exhaustive and NCC resources are limited. To put things into context, Spooner Row did not get a Ranger visit last year.
Should residents want to report the matter to NCC, then follow this link....
Well, I did not expect to be updating this thread so soon.
Two men from Norfolk County Council visited School Lane yesterday afternoon and attempted a repair to the snapped post. Unfortunately the section in the ground could not be removed so they made the area safe by cutting back to ground level and placed a warning cone on top. Our Highways Engineer has assured me that the post will be renewed at a later date.
On the matter of the wonky post by Folliard's, this will be addressed when the other highway works are conducted later this month.
