I posted earlier this month (4th-5th Sept) a highways update for the road surface works to Station Road.
The works to be conducted amounted to resurfacing the lower section of Station Road to the 5 ways and then renewing the white lines at the junctions.
As you will know, these works did not take place. The reason for the delay was to add in additional works so that everything happened at the same time, resulting in less disruption.
Highway works will now start on the 23rd September and last for 5 days.
The resurfacing around the junction will be conducted on Monday and Tuesday and the works for the new footway outside Folliard's will start from Wednesday.
Good news for the youngsters at the school. No more having to get off and walk your scooters over the granite stones by the level crossing!
Received today There is some confusion about this but I believe this is the final position Julian
Spooner Row - Station Road closure
Highway maintenance work will commence from Monday 23 September 2019. A section of Station Road will be closed for a period of 5 days whilst two pieces of work are carried out.
Monday / Tuesday: Resurfacing of the junction with Bunwell Road. No access available from Bunwell Road during this work.
Wednesday to Friday: Improvement to the pedestrian access surface near the level crossing. During this work, no vehicles will be permitted to travel across the rail track. The approach to the level crossing will have barriers in place.
Access to properties within the road closure will be maintained from one end of the closure at all times. A signed diversion route will be in place; Chapel Road, Suton Lane, B1172 London Road, Station Road.
The County Council thanks people for their patience while this road repair work is carried out. The work, which will cost approximately £14,000, will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Community and Environmental Services Department and their contractors.
To those asking about pedestrian access during these works I have heard back from the contractor doing the pavement works (Wed to Fri) to be told that pedestrian access will be maintained but you will be re-routed onto the other side of Station Road.
On the matter of the earlier resurfacing (Mon to Tue) I am not yet able to confirm the basis of pedestrian access.
