Hi there,

Please can our Parish council request that SNC check the validity of the residents currently occupying the Chepore Lane Traveller Site.

There has been an alarming increase in footfall in our small and out of the way community of unknown and unrecognisable individuals and groups of individuals of Eastern European, appearance, characteristics and language, carrying bags and heading in that direction.

There is great concern amongst many if the populace of Suton about this, and some have even been disturbed in the night by these indivuduals knocking on the door and asking for food.

Suton residents are concerned about their safety.

Can the Parish council help in this matter.

Thank you.

Daz, you could request that these concerns are included on the parish council agenda for the next meeting.

The authorised traveller site on Chepore Lane was permitted with conditions by the district council. Are these being kept?

The local Suton councillor has given a very detailed  email of her concerns which was raised to the Community council.

It was agreed to action and this has already been passed to Petra Maryon SDC and Broadland Planning enforcement for her attention

👍

There is also over 20 vans on the site instead of the original 8.

There is also additional permanent constructions as well instead of 1 utility building.

This is standard for travelers. I've had dealings with them all over the country and sadly this is often what happens. (...edited...)  Another example is the illegal site on London Road.

The council won't do anything apart from send letters which will be ignored.

I am concerned this illegal site will expand or new illegal sites will spring up close by.

Can I for brevity include here a comment /reply from the planning team following an e mail I sent about this recently about both sites. Disappointing does not quite cover it

Dear Julian

Thank you for contacting me, In regards to the London Road site, you will be aware that an appeal has been submitted against both the Planning refusal and the Enforcement Notice, both matters are to be heard by the same Inspector at a hearing. Whilst this matter is held awaiting the hearing then no action can be taken as the Enforcement Notice is not considered effective until the appeal is determined. The delays do not give any inference of acceptance of any of the unauthorised development. Any further unauthorised works undertaken during this period are carried out at the occupiers risk, and if planning permission is not gained then such works would be required to be regularised. Andy Baines is the case officer dealing with this case.

In regards to the site at Chepore Lane, the case officer Martin Burrows will update you on his findings from his site visit, and whether formal action is required to resolve any breach of planning control identified.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards

Petra

Thank you for the latest update. If planning permission is granted by the Inspector where individuals can purchase plots of land and construct dwellings and move in, then this will set a legal precedent that we can all enjoy. Technically the occupants are living in permanent properties with services ( the same as the rest of us) albeit without permission. This is about fairness, what is fair for some must be fair for all. This has made a joke of the planning process so let's just do away with planning departments.

There are still many objections to this development particularly with the proximity of its entrance on a fast-moving road causing a highway risk or does that not matter anymore?
