The Greater Norwich Planning Policy Team has released a publication consultation period from 1 February to 15 March 2021. You will have the opportunity to submit your concerns on the legal compliance and soundness of the GNLP (Greater Norwich Local Plan).

For information and to make your comments go to https://www.gnlp.org.uk/

An email advises that smaller villages in south Norfolk are not included in this document but instead will be addressed through a South Norfolk Village Clusters Housing Allocations Local Plan at a later stage.

The Norfolk & Norwich hospital is in trouble yet again. It clearly can't cope yet it is expected to cater for a large increase in population alongside large house building projects. How is the GNLP going to solve this? Are they planning to build an additional hospital?

IMPORTANT

This currently EXCLUDES small village clusters of which Suton, Spooner row and Wattlefield is one

Sites are being looked at by South Norfolk Reg sub committee and the Planners,  and we have yet to be considered. Basically SMALL sites are up for consideration for each village cluster of a max of 25 houses per site and some clusters are getting more than one site and others are getting none.

This excludes those already approved and unless they run out of time they will not be revisited BUT we are seeing some VERY generous extensions to time being granted almost on the nod Not happy

This 25 rule has come as a blow to some developers who no doubt will NOT be happy and be doing the usual tricks to circumvent this process which they have been very successful at in previous years . The good news in not quite so easy nowadays

It is a fairly robust process BUT I am not permitted to share any discussions or decisions that are made, at this time with you. Not a decision I am happy with either but stuck.

Dear Julian

Yes, you will be able to comment on the South Norfolk Village Clusters plan when this is available. This plan is being produced separately from the Greater Norwich Local Plan by South Norfolk Council and is following a different timetable.

My colleagues at South Norfolk Council have advised that they are aiming for a public consultation starting in late April/early May 2021. If you require any further information please email them directly at LP@s-norfolk.gov.uk

Kind regards

Carole

This consultation ends tomorrow.  Looking at the GNLP website, not many people have engaged and contributed their views to the soundness of this proposed local plan which includes aspects such as flood risk and the natural environment. People probably still remember how comments and objections were ignored on the previous local plan, which is what I recall happened for the selected sites in Spooner Row. It seems a bit strange having this public consultation that separates the soundness and legality of a local plan from a future public consultation on the proposed housing development sites in smaller villages. Why not include both these factors tothether as they have for the town areas? I have little confidence that SNC's choice of development sites in smaller villages will be right for local people.

Go to:  https://www.gnlp.org.uk/  Look on the left-hand side and click on part 1 or part 2 and then click on the icons to read the very few responses that have already been made. There is still time to make a comment or two on subjects such as flood risks. The choice of subjects to comment on seem very limited and vague eg. the Health and Wellbeing section doesn't mention increased hospital provision despite a growing population in this region to which this local plan caters for.
