There is a poll running on NextDoor to ascertain if the Community needs another dog bin located on Green Lane, the Bridleways between Guiler’s Lane and Potter’s Lane in Spooner Row.  If you have a view please comment here, or discussion on ://nextdoor.co.uk/g/p8628rcbd/

I will need a little more information before I comment. What is the evidence there is a need for a dog bin at that location?

The nextdoor link requires me to join. It is a private council group, not open to the wider community, only for members. For that reason, I will not be commenting on there. Is there information about this on the Community Council's website? I can't find it.

So our small village has 4 dog bins already.

However......now a poll for our residents to determine whether we need an extra one or two !

The reason your Community Council has asked the question on whether or not to provide more dog bins, is that a member of our Community requested it. So that we can make the right decision we are collecting evidence from the Community to see if it is required, hence we have asked the simple question on here and on NextDoor of do you think we need another bin and if so where to locate it, you can respond in either forum it is your choice.

The Community Council is trying to use as many medium as possible to communicate with you, hence we are using NextDoor, Twitter, the website www.spoonerrow.cc and this message board.

The reason the Council are trying NextDoor as another method of communication is it very quick to get a message out; we do not have to wait for a moderator to approve the message. It is also very easy to upload pictures.

The reason we have set it up as a closed group for the community is it allows the Council and anyone else within our community to push messages out, everyone in the group gets an email notification and/or a message notification on your phone against the app, but the messages do not go wider on NextDoor, which can be annoying for others who live outside of our area.  It also stops the negative trolling which can occur from people outside our community. Finally, as everyone’s names come up against their posts, the site is effectively self moderating, as people are more like to be considered in there response which generally results in a more positive and community building conversation.

We will also put relevant information on the www.spoonerrow.cc website Grapevine, which also requires a profile set up to respond and on this message board when we think appropriate. I hope this helps explain. Also, remember you do not have to post any messages but can contact the Council direct on any issues.

This is the message on NextDoor which introduces the poll:

Is a new Dog Bin required in Spooner Row? The Community Council would like to understand if there is a need to position a Dog Bin on Green Lane (bridleway) which runs from Potter's Lane to Guiler's Lane. We currently have 4 Dog Bins in Spooner Row located at: Queen's Street, Hill Road, the Playing Field and by the Chapel. The bins cost us approximately £88.00 per year, per bin to be emptied and the purchase of a new dog bin will be £83.00.

Again, I hope this helps in your consideration of the request from a member of our community for and additional dog bin.

I prefer this forum as I can voice my concerns anonymously about issues that are controversial and it reaches more people in our community because of this. I really value this choice. To use Nextdoor you have to register, so those who choose not to do this for whatever reason, are not represented. Who's to say that comments submitted using Nextdoor are not moderated to fit an agenda? You seem to confuse 'negative trolling' with people who disagree with you.

This seems a little out of the way. Unless there are a good number of dog walkers that use the bridleway then it is unlikely to get much use. Four dog bins for the village should be enough.

To assure anyone using NextDoor, the Council has no moderator or edit rights on any messages. The only person who can edit a post is the person who originally posted it. Once the message is posted you can go back and edit your own messages, for example if you make a spelling mistake.

The only rights the Council has to the Spooner Row Community Council Group is the ability to invite people to join. We have invited everyone who is on NextDoor within our community to join. As new people join the public group for Spooner Row they are being invited to join the Community Council Group.

Quite a few dog walkers venture further afield on a daily basis so dog bins either side of the bridle path would be very welcome. You can sometimes walk 3-4 miles with a full poo bag/bags around the block before the next dog bin.
