Moving the Goal Posts

Can nothing be done about the mole hills on the rec. There is getting more and more each visit. Not much playing field left untouched. Heavens knows how the school will run it's sports day! At least the hurdles are already in place!

It emerged last night at council that the goals on the playing field, which have been recently moved were not moved by anyone on the council and that no one on the council was aware of who did this or when.

Whilst who ever did this appears to have taken time and trouble to do so correctly , it is the council which would bear the responsibility should this move for whatever reason fail or prove to be dangerous.

It is the equivalent of going into your next door neighbours garden and moving their swing for them without their permission  or as much as a by-your-leave

To whoever did this, can you perhaps ask in future for the Council to move them rather than taking upon yourself to do so. It is a simple matter of good manners and dare I say it, risks compromising  the council's insurance position and indeed any possible claims that might arise in consequence.

It was agreed that the council will watch for wear and tear on the field because of welcome regular use,  in future and move them as required.

Whoever moved them were lucky to find some field without mole hills (the field is covered). Maybe that’s why they were moved, maybe the moles invaded the pitch!

Hi all..it really does seem that Mr Halls has moved the goal posts..not literally of course! Im amazed that even though many ,if not all the parents present at last meeting ,who agreed that the goal being moved on the field wasnt an issue, he still seems to think it is. Why he has decided that action is required to put things "right" when in truth no one else has, staggers my belief in all things being fair in our society .  I ,nor anyone, really knows who did the deed ,but do we have to form a witch-hunt to find out who it was ,and possibly take legal action against them? Its fair to say that Mr Halls time could be better spent with the many more pressing issues at hand which im sure take up his day rather than a small event that although didnt have permission was done in the childrens interest. I hope that this issue is dropped and the baton passed onto some real issues which do actually need to be done. Yours Sincerely Anon

(Dear Anon,

The Community Council has a policy of not answering Anon posts. You will need to provide a name on here or contact Cllr Halls directly for a reply.

I think you will find that Mr Halls is speaking on behalf of the community council, rather than just himself with concerns for public safety. I also agree with him that it is a simple matter of good manners to ask permission from the council before moving public items on the playing field which are available for all of us to use and we would like them kept in place. I think the community facilities on the playing field have improved vastly since the local council took over the ownership and I am sure that many would welcome more activity such as local sports clubs.
