Subject: Homes for Ukraine - Information Session for Sponsors
Dear Members,
One Team is working hard to ensure that our response to the Ukrainian Crisis is comprehensive and supports not only the incoming refugees, but also the sponsors who have offered up space in their properties to accommodate them. It is our aim to ensure that the placements are sustainable and successful for all involved, preventing further upheaval in the future.
Officers will provide a full briefing on our current position in coming days, but in the meantime, I wanted to make you aware of an information session which we are involved in on Monday evening (28th March). This online event aims to equip potential sponsors with everything they need to know about the Homes for Ukraine scheme and how it is working in Norfolk. This has been organised at short notice because of the speed at which this work is developing; we will record this to share with anyone who is unable to attend.
At the information session participants will hear from a number of speakers who will cover:
How the Homes for Ukraine scheme works, and the role of local authorities and their partners in Norfolk to deliver it
What the requirements are of being a sponsor
The support which is being put in place for refugees
How the community are coming together to create welcoming and supportive environments
What it’s like to be a refugee
Most importantly there will be an opportunity for sponsors to ask questions – some of which will answered at the time, and others which will highlight areas which may not have been considered yet. This feedback will enable officers to learn more about what is happening in the community and provide even better support to the efforts.
The session will run online from 7pm and details are as follows:
