Private property /driveway / no parking / CCTV signs Guilers lane

Does any one know anything about some new signs that have appeared on the fences along the bridleway in Guilers Lane next to Guilers Farm?

The signs say it's a private driveway, private property, no unauthorised parking and that cameras are in use.

I thought it was a bridleway or public footpath and anyone could walk along there.

I and my late husband have walked our dog along there for years but I'm now scared to go up there in case I get into trouble for trespassing.

I thought it was a public right of way and have walked there myself, they cannot be blocked or closed.

The signs only relate to the parking of cars . May I suggest you park on the vergeside opposite . Walking and bridleway access is not , or should not be in any way affected. If that proves not to be the case please let the clerk at the council know and we take the matter up, subject to council approval to do so.

I have broken the rule not to respond to ANON comments but believe this is a valid exception

We thought the same. Can only presume it is something to do with the peoples horse's and the big new stables block that gone up in the field and trying to put people of from walking past the horses in the field.

The signs are completely misleading and intimidating and make out that the footpath is private property not just parking.

Complete arrogance, Someone should remove them.

Besides, aren't there laws about CCTV cameras filming the public especially in a public place?

This is indeed a bona fide bridleway - Wymondham Bridleway 29 - and is on the definitive map Explorer 237 for Norwich, Wymondham, Attleborough and Watton.   It is marked very clearly in green as going from Potters Lane through to Guilers Lane, going over a small footbridge in the middle.   It is a lovely path, one which I have often walked, for more than 20 years.  I wonder if the owner of the drive has made it clear where the bridleway goes?   If not, a simple sign "Footpath this way" should be adequate to direct people onto the right path.   I have seen many such signs where the path may not be obvious.   e

Dear Mr Halls

Thank you for your reply and suggestion.

I'm afraid I'm not at all confidant parking in the lane itself with the amount of traffic and the speed that it goes down there these days especially with big lorries and the like that seem to drive across the verges and show no regard for any other road users.

I am concerned that the signs say it is private property. If I park my car in the entrance then I can't see what harm that could do anyway as its very wide and wouldn't be blocking the entrance or any through traffic.

You can understand someone putting those signs up to be honest.

Sometimes when I drive past its gridlock up there. I've had to drive up and down the lane for hours waiting for a parking space to become available 🙄

The signs were obviously put up by some idiot on a power trip that's totally out of touch with all things local and the countryside.

What next, a barrier and a pay and display 😂
