South Norfolk Council office move

On Friday the 4th November 2022 at 5pm, the South Norfolk Council offices in Long Stratton will close, and our main offices will move temporarily to Thorpe Lodge.

From Monday 7th November 2022, if you need a face-to-face meeting with a member of our team, you will be able to find us at two locations:

The Octagon is a space for pre-booked meetings and support, to access our wider services, all of which can be accessed via the telephone on 01508 533633 and this website.

Find out more about the office move here.

sorry on the drag here

The new office will be open for use by both councils in the new year ( ish) and can easily be accessed from the A47 by pass at the Thorpe park and ride turn.

Stay on the slip towards Aylsham ( Broadway ) then take the next immediate left which will bring you into the estate, where there is good parking  .

The delay is on account of some remedial works and the need for  new Council chamber to be built so it might take longer than being said.

The alternative , now current arrangement is to be frank, a pain with poor parking and in the early morning it can take a good 10 mins to go down the Thorpe road from the aforementioned A47 by pass junction to get to Thorpe lodge.

This was never mentioned to the councillors at any stage

I am sure for many the phrase 'so what?' comes to mind but for planning hearings if you wish to attend it will be relevant.

Also for next year ( maybe, in these turbulent times ) there will be requirement at the next election BY LAW to have photo ID . No ID means no vote.

This is apparently being worked up. They, the ID Cards  will be free but how and where from is not yet known and some bus passes will count and some might not.

Now if I was a cynic, I would say this is a Trumpism being brought in to dis enfranchise voters from a certain background but for the elderly where they have no computer access this is a disgrace, or for those who do not want an 'ID card' you will lose your vote .

The 'problem' was apparently 88 voters in the whole country of 48 million voters so not even miniscule.

THE ALTERNATIVE IS GET A POSTAL VOTE AND PLEASE DO THAT NOW.

the move to the new offices in the new year , which I said would be ish is proving to be more than the case . The latest estimate , unless  we have a miracle is May of next year . No builders apparently

So two new councils , a new building and a coronation. Fun will be had by all
