Subject: Important roadworks information: A11 Thickthorn to Tuttles Lane concrete repairs

A11 Thickthorn to Tuttles Lane concrete repairs 

Dear Customer 

I am writing to tell you about the upcoming work repair concrete sections of the A11 between Thickthorn Interchange and Tuttles Lane Interchange. These repairs aim to reduce noise levels from the A11 and extend the life of the road surface between these junctions. This will help to minimising the need for future repairs.  

This work will include:  

• Overlaying the existing concrete surface with asphalt.  

• Saw cutting the concrete sections and sealing new joints.  

• Installing new road markings, reflective studs, and traffic counter loops. 

We plan to start this work on Tuesday 27 August 2024 and will last approximately 11 weeks. We will work between 8pm and 6am on weeknights only, weather permitting.  

Closures and diversions 

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A11 between Thickthorn Interchange and Tuttles Lane Interchange in one direction at a time, and divert traffic as follows: 

• Southbound Traffic will exit the A11 at Thickthorn Interchange and turn left onto the Norwich Southern Bypass (A47). At Ipswich Road Interchange, turn right onto Ipswich Road (A140) and continue following towards Scole. Turn right onto Diss Road (A1066) and follow to Thetford. At Munford Road roundabout, turn left to rejoin the A11 southbound. 

• Northbound Traffic will follow the same diversion as above but in reverse.
