hi, I wonder if like me you have had to give way to speeding vehicles coming into Spooner Row! I got so fed up I contacted Norfolk Police for advice and received a reply from PCSO Daniel Shelley who advised that if you are in this situation you should take the registration of the vehicle.

They will then contact the driver.

Here is PCSO details:

You may not be aware but we've had the Speed Awareness vehicle in the village over the summer.  They came three separate days and times and did checks on Chapel Lane, Bunwell Road and Station Road.  The results can be found on the SAM website.  It makes for grim reading but provides the necessary evidence for what we all already know - our speed limits are consistently ignored!  The Parish Council are working with Norfolk Police on the next steps.

Hi, thanks for that. My concerns were around the chicanes especially! It appears the majority of people approaching the chicanes do not understand the signs which state you should give way to vehicles leaving the village.

On numerous occasions I am confronted with a vehicle head on trying to beat me through the chicane!

I feel it is only a mater of time before there is a serious accident.

On Sunday (15th November) morning to quantify your point a black Warrior pickup truck went through Spooner Row easily in excess of 60mph! Had he been required to brake hard on the wet slippery roads anything in his path would not have had a chance .....

Drive straight at them, Iv sat at the chicane on my bike smack bang in the centre of it and the bloke in the silver mondeo (AO58T Cant remember the rest) so i just folded my arms and waited.

He soon reversed back, so upon riding past i gestured to him with my hand smile

He got the point!

we live just up from the junction with the pub and have seen numerous near misses with cars either speeding from Bunwell to go towards the station and vice versa. Thankfully there has been no serious accidents in the village  with the prime time being the "school run",the paths are too small!!! What we need are speed humps (which probably wouldnt happen as too many lorries go through), as most people use the calming measures now as a chicane to practise being Jenson Button on!!!!
