Why on earth do they have to have all these road works in Spooner Row at the same time. Could'nt they have resurfaced the road another time. Anyway instead of improving the path in Station Road, why don't they put a path from the school up to the roundabout
You would prefer a path between the school and the roundabout where no one (ok, not many people) lives over a path between the school and 80% of the houses? Why not have a path through the middle of a field while you are at it?
Well at least there is a path there. What about the people who catch a bus on the old A11, they have to walk on the road to there. I bet you do not even use the path. You are probably one of those with those great big 4X4 that like blocking School Lane. And you think they own the road.

I agree, walking half a mile up (and in) the road dodging HGV's to get to Suton and for the only bus service anywhere near Spooner Row is far from ideal. The parking on the Station Road/School Lane junction is dangerous and getting to be a nuisance.
The school has sent out letters saying about this but obviously to no avail. It would be good to get a PCSO up there one morning to "observe and feedback" to motorists.
Thing is, it's not just those that use the school - they're on holiday. There's a problem there at other times, cars and vans blocking the visibility IS a problem .
I and many others would use a path up to Suton, but as there isn't one we have to drive (I do not own a 4x4). Station Road is an HGV route so no one in their right mind would want children walking along the road. The school serves children from Spooner Row and Suton (and others) and if they can not safely walk they have to use a car. I agree that parking near the school, near the village Hall and near the church is a problem but no paths or proper cycle ways doesn't help.
I dread to think how much it would cost to put a new path up to the roundabout, I bet you wouldn't get change from £100k.
(it is costing £26500 to resurface existing path of about half the length of the path you propose, so it is possible a new path COULD cost double, I'm only guessing though)
probably cheaper for SNDC to lay on a cab service for you for a few years (10 people per day could have a return taxi @£5 each way to the roundabout for about 3 years for less money!)
Apparently some clearly very arrogant and selfish drivers see the road closed signs as a challenge, more so at the weekend and yes I know the official diversion is pants as is the unofficial one
Access to the houses within the road closure has to be manaintained as does Emergency vehicle access at all times
To enter a closed road is an offence punsighable with a fine of £1000 but if you hit someone esle doing the same thing coming the otehr way, you will both get done, as you will be if you simply use the road and are caught doing so with or without without having an accident
Trying to calim on your insurance might be fun as well
People could not be less interested in bothersome things like the law or manners when they are in their car.
I was standing on my own drive last week and someone tried to turn round using it and told me to get out of their way because they "Were just turning round mate"
I know what you mean - I've had parents off-load their children for the school in my garden driveway (and other people's driveways) - some people treat private drives like they are a public carpark.
I too have been shocked by the numbers of drivers completely ignoring the 'road closed' once work has finished for the day/weekend. I saw one car stop, drive past, reconsider, then reverse at speed to turn in and drive straight through.
And as for people thinking my driveway is part of the public highway, including some of my own road residents who are too lazy to drive round the block or clear the rubbish out their own driveway, and the lady visitor to a neighbouring property who actually threatened me for shaking my head at her . Wish in hindsight I'd made a note of her number plate.
