This is a politically neutral message

In case you are not already aware , the process to re elect the whole Town Council and some District Councillors is underway for May of this year

For Cromwells ward , which is Spooner Row, Suton, Wattlefield and Silfield there are 3 Town Councillors and 1 District Councillor required. Town Councillors receive no allowances or expenses whatsoever but there is a modest allowance given to District Councillors

If you wish to to be considered as a candidate , for any Party or as an independant, I would urge you to attend the potential candidates briefing at South Norfolk on Friday the 12th Feb at the offices of South Norfolk at 1700.

There are some hoops you have to jump through.

If you have a sudden desire to become a Councillor and are associated with a Political party then this process can be a great easier to do, but please let your party know as soon as possible, as there may be an interview required.

Please contact Julia Tovey-Galey at South Norfolk to book your place

This is not a politically neutral message as it implies that you have to be a member of a political party to stand for election and this is not correct. Independants can stand for election and I would encourage them to do so. You once told us that you were Independant and now we discouver you went back on your word to join a party. This is just a PR stunt to get your name on the website. I am surprised that the site allows candidates an opportunity to do a political broadcast. I thought the site was non political.

Independant

(Dear Anonymous, it appears to me that Cllr Halls is urging people to get involved with local elections and is neither promoting a political party nor promoting an Independant stance. Webstation)

This is entirely neutral  by any reading or interpretation

I never at any point said I was independant but I will admit that when I was campaigning for a seperate Community Council I was not a member of a party. Unfortunately the support for that was sadly not as strong as it could have been and if you care to read my recent message I am silent on which Party I belong to, so exactly how this can be interpreted as a political broadcast I do not know.

I am still keen to have our own Community Council but am now pushing for this as best I can from inside the tent as opposed to outside it ( for some this will be confusing but is a reference to a story told by the late Winston Churchill and I am happy to explain it personally but not here)

As for my name being on the message board you will see it appears numerously and regularly to discuss matters such as Planning and other matters you as ward members I assume, want me to engage on or with.

I make no apologies for this as I believe that this was what I was elected for, but being so active I know does rather irritate those who do not see their party member being quite so energetic.

I believe being an Independant is a difficult path to follow but I assure I have the utmost respect for anyone who wants to become a Councillor with no political ties as this allows them to vote entirely of their own free will.  That said I have had no pressure from my own party to vote on political lines on any occasion but, sadly this is does not always appear to be true for some of my fellow councillors at Town Council.

I expect anon will once again interpret this as a Political message , but before you do read this message carefully, as once again it is entirely neutral unless you count the reference to Winston Churchill that is.
