A large diversion in Place and affecting northbound traffic

Important, please read

Details about road works

Dear Sir/Madam

Work to repair the A11 between Thetford and Snetterton

We are working on behalf of Highways England to repair the road surface of the A11 northbound near you. This work will repair the road of the A11 at three sites – by the Brettenham Heath National Nature Reserve east of Thetford, at Larling, and at Snetterton.

Subject to weather conditions, we plan to complete this work over four nights from Tuesday 29 March to Friday 1 April. We will be working between 20:00 and 06:00. This may result in delays for local road users and through traffic for which we apologise.

To keep road users at a safe distance from the works, we will close the A11 northbound between the nature reserve and Snetterton while we are working. There will be a clearly signed diversion route in place, whereby drivers will be directed to take the A1075 to Thetford, the A1066 to the A140 roundabout at Scole, then take the A140 north to Norwich and then the A47 west to re-join the A11 southbound at the Thickthorn roundabout.

We have written to local businesses affected by the works and we would be grateful if you would publicise the works to your parishioners through newsletters and other communications where appropriate. Given the length of the diversion route we would advise drivers to allow extra time to complete their journey.

We will do our utmost to complete the works as quickly as possible, avoiding disturbance and keeping noise to a minimum.

 Yours Faithfully,

Graham Birch,

Project Manager,

For and on behalf of Highways England
