Has anyone else noticed an increase in lorries going up Bunwell Road that absolutely stink of sewage.
This is happening day & night and is an appalling way to be woken up; a loud, large smelly lorry passing the front of the house in the wee small hours, or maybe we're in the garden, in the daytime, enjoying the lovely weather, when one goes up the road, leaving in it's wake a disgusting smell.
There seems to be a lot more lorries on the HGV route (Bunwell Rd and Station Rd) in general. Traffic, including very large lorries, turning off the A11, go down Station Road then form a queue when reaching the level crossing. When the level crossing arms go up, they then join the next queue of traffic waiting to turn right at the dangerous junction at the end of Station Road by the church. I watched this congestion the other day and couldn't believe this was a rural road through the heart of the village experiencing this amount of clogging up and pollution and it wasn't even during the school pickup times, so the school can't be blamed.
The Station Rd/Bunwell Rd junction by the church is a dangerous junction. There was a serious road accident there a couple of months back.
I agree, there are far too many HGV's using the village as a shortcut. If one of these raw sewage lorries has an accident there will be a HUGE clean-up bill as well as the risk of pollution.
If we become a Parish Council will we be able to get the weight limit reduced on the Bunwell Road?
I believe there is a company somewhere near Carleton Rode that uses it to make garden comost.
I seem to recall there was uproar about the stench in that village years ago, although, it seems by the lorries going along Station rd & Bunwell rd the business is still operational.
