Sad to report that a hedgehog that has been visiting my garden, which I've been feeding all summer, since I caught it on my trail cam, was killed on the road last night.

I have an amazing update! It's still sad to have lost a precious hedgehog on the road, but there's more than one!! I got footage of our regular visitor last night. I'm so glad. Spooner Row is a hedgehog village!! Anyone else in the village have any visitors?

I am so pleased that another hedgehog is visiting your garden. I have the odd hedgehog or two that visits here, I put hedgehog food out for them.

Did you know that hedgehogs must weigh 600g or more from October/November for them to survive hibernation?  If you see small ones, it is best to take them to a wildlife shelter for the winter.

Where have all the slugs and snails gone that they eat? Last year the reason given was because of the drought. This year, even at night and after rain, there still aren't any snails or slugs.

Good to see a Little Egret fishing in the ditch on Station road. They seem to gather around now thinking about nesting early in the new year. Hopefully there will be more than one. Have seen four at a time.

If you are passing by the field next to the playing field on School Lane look out for the kestrel that currently visits there several times a day. You can see it hovering and it sometimes sits on the telegraph pole.

Just back from a late walk around Top Common and near the bridge, saw a flock of around 50 ish Redwings and Fieldfares. Looked like they were heading for their roost for the night.

In the field on the right,  as you go up Broom rd, there are loads of Fieldfares and Redwings. Also further on there are regularly around 50 ish Lapwings. Always lovely to see.

Yes, that is lovely to see. Next time I pass that way, I will look out for them.

From Broom road this afternoon, there was a herd of 60+ Red Deer on the field opposite the t junction at the end of Guilers lane. It was quite a spectacle. They were mostly laying down and looking pretty chilled. There are also a handful of resident Roe Deer on the same field that I regularly see. Feeling blessed to have these creatures so nearby.
