A"for sale" board was gone up this morning at 2 Cantley Villas. The side garden plot of 0.15 of an acre is to be sold at auction and is marketed as a building plot with its existing planning permission.
The actual price normally far exceeds the guide price. This is such an inappropriate development site. It is tiny and the new build will be jammed right up to both properties either side, not to mention the additional entrance which will add to the dangerous new cross-road layout opposite the primary school with School Lane. Who allows these things? It is such poor judgment.
There is planning permission for two semi-detached two bedroom cottages on this relatively small plot of land. Given that hard landscaping may appear in the form of fences etc., this can only detract from the two adjacent Victorian houses. This appears to be an over-development of this limited amount of land but ............... the developers are in and very close by.
The site is owned by ....(edited)...., a Tory District Councillor at Breckland DC with, shall we say, a colourful history ( check on the internet) . The Town Council objected to this development with two jammed in houses but it was passed by the District Council at South Norfolk after minimal tweaking, yet the single in keeping new house proposed in Top Common was refused despite it having plenty of room.
Enough said I think !

This garden development will be tightly sandwiched in-between two existing properties and is ridiculous. Not to mention its proximity to the local primary school entrance and the extra problems this will cause.
I wish councils would just do what is right and not prioritise their party politics over common sense. What a disgrace. Both Breckland DC and South Norfolk DC make up the Constituency of Mid Norfolk. I wonder what our MP George Freeman thinks about this?
I agree the Top Common application was perfectly suitable. I'm not impressed with how differently ordinary local people get treated around here.
