The new pavement on Station Road from the village hall to The Ridings, which is part of the safety measures for the new development, may look nice but from what I experienced last week, the new pavement defeats the object. The road width has now been narrowed due to the new pavement so that when two wide HGVs passed each other at this point on the highway, one of the lorries had to drive with its near-side wheels on the pavement opposite. I was walking towards the large works-vehicle, face on, when this happened and it was a very unnerving experience, the HGV may not have been speeding, but even so... Is it the norm now that HGVs will be doing this? If you look at the existing pavement opposite, it looks sunken-down and is often full of puddles, so I can only surmise this has been caused by vehicles currently driving on the pavement. The infrastructure is not good enough to take such a constant volume of HGVs particularly now that the road has been narrowed in the vicinity of the primary school.
