I agree...and on rainy days too. Inconsiderate stinking bonfires is becoming a regular problem in Spooner Row. I am getting fed-up with closing the windows and doors and sitting indoors or having to go out to get away from the bad smells and local air pollution. What is it these people are burning?
I totally agree this always seems to happen at Bunwell Rd end of the village. I have on occasions had to re-wash the washing which was hanging on the line drying if I am not home to rescue it from the stench in time!
I think its garden waste?!
Its an ongoing problem which is inconsiderate and quite frankly rude.
Just so we are clear here this is the Law but it can be a seen as a bit toothless.
Bonfires from a Commercial site are illegal , full stop
Bonfires from a domestic site only become illegal if they cause a nuisance and they have to be regular and recurring before Environmental health will take acton and the most usual course of action is a warning letter once THEY have witnessed this. What this means practically is that if the wind in blowing the smoke away or you are in the middle of the countryside where no one is affected by the smoke it is not illegal Obvously messing up the washing on the line is spoiling the enjoyment of your land and as such is illegal but E Health will not take your word for it.
There are leaflets which I am sure E health will provide so posting them through the offenders door might do the trick
