Raising awareness of this potential loss to the village

If you feel this Policy should be abandoned please let your county councillor know which for Cromwells is Colin Foulger

Keep My Mobile Library Service

The County Council is cutting £200,000 from next year onwards from the mobile libraries service that is more than 40% of the total budget. It will radically reduce the service meaning fewer vehicles making fewer stops. It could mean the end of this stop.

Many people use mobile libraries because it’s the only way they can borrow books. If stops are taken away it will be impossible for many people to go elsewhere. This is going to isolate people: the whole point of these stops is for people who don’t have transport - our older residents or those with health conditions who cannot carry books on the bus.

The service is highly valued. For some people the mobile library team can be the only people they will see that week. For others they cannot leave loved ones they are providing care for to go to the library, a short visit from the library gives them the smallest but nonetheless important respite.

We need to support the elderly and the vulnerable in our communities.

I call upon Norfolk County Council to abandon the budget cut for the mobile library service and properly restructure and re launch the existing service in a way that is designed to meet the needs of the local communities.

The mobile library service is an important service to vulnerable people and those without transport. I also think this service is essential and the county council should not be cutting this vital resource.
