station road in spooner row has a speed limit of 30mph why do we have two local haulage companys that I’ve seen coming through the village exceeding this speed,RJM commercials and Newalls seem to be exempt from this speed limit can we please get some support from local residents before a serious accident happens
Can I suggest that you report this to our County Councillor, Colin Foulger and make sure he is aware of this state of affairs? This is his area of concern?
ALL of Spooner row has a 30 limit and we used to have a speedwatch team but we need several volunteers to man the gun and keep the records and whilst we did have enough, sadly one moved out of the village and then we had one die so it became impractical
BY support if you mean set up the scheme again, fine, but otherwise can you be more specific please and we need at least 6 preferably 9 persons on the team.
Police resources are such that getting a village precence is unlikely on a regular basis and although speed humps have appeared in Cringleford , when NCC said they would never put anymore in place, I think that option is unlikely to happen.
Humps will slow down cars but they are of a width such that wide based vehicles such as ambulances and Fire Engines can go 'around' them . Lorries would equally miss them
As a local councillor I support ANY measure that will slow down boy racers ( of both genders and ALL ages ) going through the village at horrendous speeds. I lost a cat when a car ran over it at high speed and one day it will be a child, but it would appear to some that speed limits only apply to their immediate locale ( 200 yards ) and to say otherwise is an utterly crass suggestion.
Instead of complaining anonomusly on a forum why don’t you actually contact the companies directly and ask if they can help with the problem! surely that’s a better way of sorting it out
Do you really think companies that setup in locations that run through the Village in the first place care about that, dream on. Knock on the door of the house in front of RJM and ask them how they treat them, at night it’s like a football pitch at the back, talk about light polution. As for Newalls, I’d trust ...(edited)...

While we're at it could I just respectively remind all drivers using the chichanes on Bunwell Road and Station Road to make sure they understanding the meaning of the traffic sign below.
This means give way to oncoming vehicles and you should wait until all oncoming vehicles have passed before you move. It's not a game of chicken or just sticking your foot down and hoping for the best. I have seen several very near misses in recent days.
Regarding one well known traffic related issue:, residents of Spooner Row have an opportunity to OBJECT to the Newalls operation on the 'BRECKLANDS COUNCIL' PLANNING SITE.
Newalls with its heavy fleet of tipper vehicles are retrospectively seeking to 'legalise' their operations based at Heron farm Bunwell Road , with Brecklands Council Planning dept.
If you think that NEWALLS' should relocate to an INDUSTRIAL ESTATE to alleviate/reduce undesirable heavy traffic impacts via the ' vehicle rat run' to the A11 through Spooner Row, please please register your feelings as a local resident on the Brecklands Council Planning portal. The Reference is : 3PL/2018/1262/F

(I am surprised that Brecklands did not notify more local residents, this is perhaps because Spooner Row is just 'over the border' in S Norfolk jurisdiction.)
We have only now been made aware of these comments regarding our vehicles being seen speeding through the village of Spooner Row! Why has nobody contacted us to sort this supposedly problem out?
Firstly we DO NOT condone speeding neither do we want to cause any unnecessary bad feeling amongst our neighbours, especially our immediate neighbours who we hold great respect for. So can I suggest if you think one of our vehicles is speeding within the limits please let me know the date, time and registration of any of our vehicles and it will be dealt with accordingly. All our vehicles are tracked and the speed can be easily traced via this system.
As for the complaint of lighting, we have these lights for several different reasons the main one being health and safety within the compound during winter months. They are on a timer and go off at various times within the night time hours. Another important reason is to deter thieves from stealing from our premises due to the fact of past issues. The lights help our infared security camera system and in the event of someone doing something they shouldn't we have a better chance of getting the registration or identifying their vehicle.
If anyone wishes to discuss this any further please feel free to call in to talk to us face to face, we are human and approachable so feel free, the last thing on our minds is to upset anyone, we are simply trying to go about our business with least amount of problems as possible.
Its easy to be anonymous on this forum and we wont take you seriously but genuine people we will do our upmost to put your concerns to rest
This application relates to a Breckland site and has not been passed to Wymondham Town to comment upon and to be fair to our District Councillor he may not have been told either as it is not his patch (District Council) area
I will let him know however and our County councillor. I have made a personal objection already
