We received our council tax bill this morning from South Norfolk Council. It has increased by 4%, well above inflation!
There are over 100 parishes in South Norfolk and we are one of the highest payers. https://www.south-norfolk.gov.uk/sites/default/files/Council%20Tax%20rates%202019_0.pdf
The current precept has been set by Wymondham Town Council, hence the figures in the table are identical. Once the Community Council is up and running later this year, then the community can engage and decide if they wish to keep a similar level, which will enable projects to be completed for the benefit of the community. Alternatively, the community may decide it would prefer a reduce precept and for the community council to do less. In terms of the rise this year, above inflation, you wil note from your recent council tax bill that one of the increases, 10%, was for policing.
Stephen Ward is correct, the community council legally does not exist until 1st April 2019. Allowing for elections on 2nd May, the inaugural meeting must be within 14 days of this date.
The Precept was set weeks ago.
I also noted that the Crime Commissioner has opted for a 10.4% increase.
