Following on from the Dog Bin Review conducted earlier this year, thoughts now turn to the litter bins. Given the poor state of the existing bins we inherited the Community Council is to consider a proposal to replace them.
Can I please have residents thoughts with regard to a suitable colour for the new bins. See below...
I think I also prefer black as it both looks nice and blends in against most backgrounds. The green appears too light and may look more scruffy over time if becoming stained from use.
I think black will look more scruffy over time and stained than the green. Black shows up more marks than other colours. Green will blend in better around here, the red best suits urban areas.
What was the point of this discussion when black was decided as the colour for the new bins at the council meeting hled just two days after it was posted on here by counciller Foster? By that time 4 of the replies had opted for green and only one for black by Councillor Ward. The decision had already been made.
Yet more pseudo-consultation for Councillors to pretend they are listening to residents. What is the point in offering views if the decision has already been made and the few views are completely ignored? The bins are a small issue but are indicative of a much bigger one.
genuinely thank you for your comment about pseudo consultation . The point you have made has been noted and obviously we need to give more time for replies to come in before we make a decision if we ask a question.
Sadly, questions that are asked get no or very little response and before you say it , we do not all live on our smart phones or computers or even have them so we need to be very selective about what is asked and how often.
Please be rest assured the bigger issues as they arise will be given plenty of time for consultation in future but equally be prepared please to accept that sometimes your view will be noted but not necessarily complied with, as that decision rests ultimately with the councillors.
Public attending council meetings are given almost always an opportunity to comment upon any item under consideration. This is not the norm and at the Chair's discretion to permit but so far this has not been an issue
