NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL has made a Temporary Traffic Order affecting the U78281 Providence Lane from its junction with the C140 Bunwell Road for a distance of 371 metres north westwards in the PARISH OF SPOONER ROW because of works to patch carriageway.
The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 17th November 2020 to 18th November 2020 for the duration of the works, expected to be 2 days within the period.
Alternative route is via: Queens Street, Bunwell Road.
For anyone else wondering, Providence Lane is the bit of Queen's Street that goes between Top Common and comes out at Bunwell Road opposite Hill Road (i.e. not at the Boars). Never knew it had an alternate name!
Never heard it called Providence Lane before. I have always known the short stretch from Bunwell Road to the corner with Top Common as a continuation of Queen's Street.
Google has it as Queen's Street. NM Landscapes at Woodlands are 49 Queen's Street. It's Queen's Street.
Agree, definitely not proposing anything different! Just interesting trivia that Norfolk County Council has that bit listed as Providence Lane despite their own road signs (maybe because Providence Place turns up on all the old OS maps). It piqued my interest when I saw planned roadworks on a road I'd never heard of, and turns out I go down it most days!

RE: temp closure of Providence lane (AMENDED DATE - see message dated 12 Nov)
I never knew it was called Providence Lane, I just knew is the Glat (dialect term for the hole in the hedge) that is north of Sluts Hole Lane. I hope the council replaces the street signs that go missing there.
