Labour Party Norfolk County Council Candidate for Forehoe Division

About John Morland

Originally from Rochdale, home of the Coop, (and in Lancashire still), with the least successful football league team in England.

Joking apart we need to embed cooperative principles in everything we do, from helping local groups to take on a local village shop, to social housing projects, and retro fitting green technology in current housing.

Like in Preston, a Cooperative Innovation Centre would channel help to where it is needed most.

I grew up at the start of comprehensive schooling in the 1960s, and with my two brothers are examples of how successful this is, three brothers from a working class background, all achieving excellent education results.

I moved to Hethersett to work on the Norwich Southern Bypass, and have lived in South Norfolk since 1990.

Climate change means we have to alter the way we do things, and after the pandemic see how people return to work, whether working from home is a long term option.

I spent fifteen years working in road construction, first the supply side then on site. Most of the time all we did was move traffic problems, there has to be a better solution to congestion than simply building more roads.

After being made redundant, I have worked the last twenty years for Vision Norfolk, formerly NNAB, advising and helping some of the most vulnerable people in the county. Disability rights feature in some of our work, building design can have a huge impact on sight impaired people and their ability to use facilities, simple alterations such as the use of contrast in colour schemes can be immensely helpful.

I met my wife after we moved to Bristol, we have two sons, one a team leader at Tesco, the younger is a ground crew electrician in the RAF, and two dogs Maxie a labradoodle, and Cleo, a Jack Russell.

Two more recent additions to the family are granddaughter Izzy and grandson Liam.

Vivienne Clifford- Jackson - Liberal Democrat Forehoe Division

  •  Vivienne has lived in South Norfolk for 30 years and Mulbarton for 22 of those years
  •  She has been greatly involved in her village life as a school governor and is heavily involved in many church and community projects.
  •  She is also currently a charity trustee and volunteer.
  •  She was described by a resident as ‘one of the most hard working people he knew’
  •  Vivienne previously represented the Mulbarton ward on South Norfolk Council in 2003 – 2007 becoming a cabinet member, then Leader of the Council.
  •  She was re- elected to South Norfolk in May 2019 and currently sits as Vice-Chair to the Scrutiny Committee, the only high level committee membership the Tory controlling council currently permit, and on the Planning committee.
  • She has worked in public service in the NHS in both education as a nurse and then as a Lecturer.
  •  Latterly she worked for South Norfolk Council as a Community Connector for the Wymondham and surrounding area before her election.
  •  She is heavily involved in casework for her area and even those of adjacent areas where Tory councillors do not respond to resident’s concerns, something which she never ignores, whatever the political allegiance.
  •  She is standing as a Liberal Democrat candidate in the Forehoe division, in which Spooner Row, Suton, Wattlefield and South Wymondham are situated, for the delayed County Council election in May 2021.

Daniel Elmer Conservative candidate

Forehoe

Like many, Daniel first moved to Norfolk to attend UEA (graduating in economics), and was never able to leave, making Norfolk his adoptive home.

A procurement and public policy expert, Daniel hopes to bring his professional skills to Norfolk County Council, helping to drive efficiencies and ensure residents get the best value for their Council Tax.

Daniel will strive to represent all the different communities in the Forehoe Division: Mulbarton, South Wymondham, Newton Flotman, Swardeston, Spooner Row, Swainsthorpe, Wreningham, Bracon Ash, Flordon, Ketteringham and East Carleton. Daniel is also a District Councillor on South Norfolk District Council.

My Priorities

A Joined-Up Approach to Flooding Local villages have suffered some of the worst flooding in years. Norfolk County Council will lead by bringing the agencies together and developing a plan to protect our community in the years to come. Conservative run Norfolk has already created a new £1.5m reserve to tackle flooding.

Making Development Work for Local People Mulbarton, Wymondham, and all the surrounding villages have become development hotspots in recent years, with new residential and industrial space, as well as national energy infrastructure all in the mix here. Whatever the merits of individual applications, Daniel will fight to ensure the area gets the road and school infrastructure it needs to support this. Local Issue

Responsibly Managed Council Tax We live in a difficult time for public finances, both nationally and locally. Residents know it is never a Conservative instinct to put up taxes unnecessarily. Conservatives will ensure vital services like social care are funded, whilst looking for efficiencies so residents never have to pay more than they need to.
