District councillor report given at annual Parish meeting 7th April 2022
1. The move towards procuring a single council office , shared by Broadland and South Norfolk who already have the same support staff moves ever slowly forward. Looking at a premises near Norwich which will ultimately show a £2 million pound saving over 5 years
2. A sudden underspend found has resulted in some green initiatives coming to the fore with PV panels for the leisure centres and more district wide charging points for EV, BUT Long Stratton supply already reporting it cannot cope with potentially increased demand something which may be mirrored elsewhere
3. Recent better engagement with Parish and town councils from the CEO with regular monthly on line meetings but restricted numbers
4. Work with Ukrainian refugees being help up by abysmal time being taken to issue visas from the Hone office. District council are ready and waiting
5. Major piece of work on small village clusters ( us) with permitted developments approaching completion and linking into the Greater Norwich development plan
6. The proposed planning changes and the levy developers have to pay for developments called CIL have been shelved for the time being
7. The lack of planning enforcement , environmental health and parking staff has finally been noted and we hope will be addressed soon if we can find them !
8. Nutrients neutrality. A bolt from the blue here. A measure requiring developers to prove and mitigate any proposed developments on the likely increase in nutrients entering watercourses. This has currently suspended 90 % of all planning permissions being granted and we hope will be addressed somehow soon as it might threaten our 5 year land supply
