The information below can be found on the Norfolk County Council website: https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/rubbish-recycling-and-planning/rubbish-and-recycling/major-projects  Included is an online consultation survey link and details of an information event to be held at Spooner Row village hall next week. It appears this Wymondham Project will be located within the parish of Spooner Row:

Major projects and improvements

Wymondham Recycling Centre – a new recycling centre for South Norfolk

The new Wymondham Recycling Centre is planned for land off the B1172 London Road, next to an existing National Highways depot and close to the A11.

Why are we moving:

The new Wymondham Recycling Centre will have better access, with separate areas for the operating vehicles and the public. We are proposing a split level site so there will be no steps to access the bins.

We are investing £2.2m in a larger, modern site that does not need to close during the day for the site to be serviced.

Key features planned for your new site:

  • A split-level site providing step free access to containers
  • Separate service area so the site does not need to close for essential waste collection and servicing operations
  • More parking spaces including dedicated
  • staff car and cycle parking
  • A reuse shop
  • Pay as You Throw service for disposal of construction and demolition waste
  • Trade service for small businesses

Timetable for the development:

  • Our consultation is open 14 November to 12 December 2022
  • Planning application submission in early 2023
  • Planning application decision expected summer 2023
  • Recycling centre construction commences in Autumn 2023
  • Recycling centre opening Autumn 2024

We want you to tell us what you think of our site to help us refine the design before we submit a planning application in early 2023.

There are several ways you can respond to the consultation.

The consultation opens on 14 November and will be found on the consultation finder webpage. Or you can respond in person at our consultation event on:

Wednesday 23 November between 3pm and 6:30pm

Spooner Row Village Hall, Station Lane, Wymondham, NR18 9JR

I clicked through the questionnaire bit. It’s ridiculous. It talks about traffic flow through the site and parking on the site. Nothing about the very busy road, the numerous speeding vehicles, pick up and drop off times during term time, Saturday mornings etc. They talk about basing their stats on the current usage at Wymondham and yet the new site will be 7 days a week and will likely draw people on the A11 and from Wym and Attleborough. I have added my comments in the available sections but already they are not asking the right questions. That section of road that the site is proposed for is very busy

It’s an illusion of democracy, just like planning, object in what ever way you like, it will change nothing.

Was there a public consultation on the choice of sites or was this location a done deal?

This new Centre will cause more local traffic. Has there been an assessment of the viability of the excess traffic including lorries using Station Road and Bunwell Road?

Of course there hasn't.

Why on earth would they do that.

Because the council is here to serve the community and has obligations.

There was a consultation but the Clerk was not consulted and neither was the Council, however when asked, the ladies managing the exhibition advised that they had consulted with Councillor (..edited..) who had okayed it.

The (..edited..) was not happy and told them so

No consultation? How can there be a public consultation about a new location for a sizeable recycling centre without the parish council being consulted alongside residents? One Councillor alone with the sole  knowledge of this project cannot okay this on his own. It looks like this Councillor has exceeded his authority.

With an internet search, you can find information on the legal requirements for consultations  regarding developments.

I first reported this over a year ago after I got chatting to some bloke I met in the pub. Perhaps the consultation happened in the pub as well.
