If anyone has lost their power supply box door, we found one dropped over our garden wall this morning (Queen Street).  Reply here and we'll get it back to you.

Looks like it has come off the box at the top of the supply pole .... lots of pigeon poop on the inside so guess it must have been loose and they helped it on it's way.  Will contact Network Power.

Update:

The UK PN safety surveyor has been out and confirmed that whilst the cover needs to be replaced there is no risk of the weather or animals causing any shorting or supply problems. He did tell me that squirrels are a frequent cause of damage to these plastic boxes which they are drawn to because they are warm in the cold weather but he does think looking at it that it may not have been properly secured in the first place no

It's now on their 'to do' list of repairs because, of course, it wasn't his job and so the right chap (or chap'ess) has to be sent out.

Well done you for trying to sort this out. It's so typical now that the person who is asked to investigate the fault can't actually fix it themselves (they knew the problem before they arrived). Don't want to get their hands dirty no doubt or 'more than their jobs worth', 'above their pay grade' etc. How can he be sure it won't cause supply problems without looking at it closely? It has a door for a reason - to keep the rain and poop out. Wonder how long the 'to do' list is? Can't help thinking that nothing will be done until the supply is lost. Bit like tree/hedge cover around overhead cables - don't maintain the hedges, blame Highways and wait until the wind causes loss of supply before taking action.

Thank you!

Yes, I felt a little frustrated as he did turn up in a van with a 'cherry picker'. No doubt the 'elf and safety assessment said he couldn't use it solo.  One of the reasons I've posted the fault report number is so if we do get a supply issue any one of us affected can report it and link it to the underlying issue.

Hopefully, just for once, we'll all be pleasantly surprised.  Not holding my breath!
