When I watched the online feed this statement was not even mentioned and the Chairman said there was no public representation.

Why wasn't this important statement read out at the Planning meeting? I thought democracy was about allowing people to have their say.

I queried this with South Norfolk Council and they said it was supplied too late. It did not make it into the councillors meeting packs. I found this surprising as councillor Halls sits on this committee and must have known the cut off date.

The meeting video is on Youtube. The Chair of the Community Council is there. At the start of the item for the unauthorised traveller site the Chairman announces public participation but Mrs Hewitson doesn't stand up or indicate a wish to speak. Neither does the man sitting next to here. No one speaks during the public session. The meeting discussion starts and the statement from the Community Council is not mentioned. Why prepare statements and turn up at a meeting if you are not going to speak? Posting it on this website was a waste of time.

(Dear Anon, thank you for your post.

In terms of any decision at the DMC meeting the Chairman's Statement posted on this message board would have no impact as you suggest. The message board does, on the other hand, allows residents a space to discuss their concerns about what is happening locally and convey useful information to others. I have been informed that the District Council looks at this message board.

I am sorry but I am not responsible for meeting admin and a statement was given to all the members of the committee, which covered all the points, Sue raised.

We queried the absence of Sue's letter with the Chair of DMC post meeting as it was in time, but it had got 'lost'  .

I was not allowed to speak being predetermined from many years back as public speaking was prohibited and is something I want to change, but bizarrely is in the constitution which is not easy to do.

But I cannot think of any logical reason why the public are prohibited from speaking

It appears to always be somebody else's fault. Have you investigated why 'admin' lost the Chair's statement? Who is 'admin'? We need answers. This sounds like an attempt not to do anything proactive regarding this unauthorised site and simply kick the can down the road.

I also have watched the Youtube meeting video and the response given here by the District Councillor does not make sense to me.  As the opportunity for public participation arrives neither Mrs Hewitson or the gentlemen beside here stand up or make any comment.  If a statement was given to all members of the committee as stated by Mr Halls why then did the Chairman state no public participation and for every other committee member to remain silent?

I am also confused as to why the statement from the Community Council was emailed in by the District Councillor and not emailed in by Mrs Hewitson as Chair of the Community Council or its Clerk.  I am starting to think that maybe South Norfolk Council ignored it because it was submitted by the District Councillor who was as he put it predetermined.
