Talk talk and stupid assumptions! my mother in law finally woke up recently when TT wrote to her saying her bill is going to £51 a month. She engaged with us and to cut a long story short , this is the broadband and phone package she has paid for 7 years, albeit at the old price,£27 . So we are now moving to BT.
Why , is because she has NEVER had broadband nor a computer and never has had. They claim they wrote to her when they changed 7 years ago !!! to AUTOMATICALLY include Broadband in her phone package and they do not offer anything else. BT is one company that does . There are very few. When we queried it with TT they did NOT want to know, claimed they sent her a router but admitted they could see she had never used it, but then with utter stupidity said they e mailed her to tell her about the change. We pointed out this would have been very difficult ( impossible) to do. We asked my M I L about a router and she said she had a package, did not know what it was, never understood any of this and had put it in the garden shed. TT then said she had to send it back or they would charge her. Then slightly concerned , they offered her a broadband and phone package marginally less than BT single phone price , for time being, to try and persuade her to stay. We pointed out that that is stupid as being 92 she is never going to get a computer, so why pay for a service she is never going to use. We hope BT get it sorted okay but this assumption we all love computers, we all have one and that everything can be done via an app and on line, we all have a printer and inks, is something I get really cross about. I cannot believe she is the only one confused by this and has been effectively, ripped off. They knew she never used her router so , Sherlock , could they not work out there was an issue? if you have elderly relatives with TT and others check if they are being charged for a service they will never use if they have no computer , or it has died, never to be replaced.
